Job Description

Department: Software

Location: Boston, Santa Barbara, Seattle

Req#: 4167

We're a global team looking for the best talent. This job has the option of working from any of our US corporate offices.

Are you excited about the scale of millions of devices in millions of homes? Do you want to work on the cutting edge of IoT and rising wave of the connected home? Do you want to be part of the team that makes the magic happen in connecting the smartest speakers on the planet to streaming music services, voice services, and other devices in the home?

We are seeking a full-time, DevOps engineer with a passion for creating the tools and processes that enable developers across the Sonos engineering team to build, test and deploy their web applications and services. This tool developer will help drive the way Sonos threads multiple applications and systems into CI/CD pipelines that are always-ready to deliver quality software to our users.

This role is perfect for a strong application developer that has an affinity for DevOps. To succeed at this role and love your job, you should find happiness in automating several disparate systems and services into push-button deployment and rollback techniques, and putting an easy to use CLI/Web UI on top of those services.

Skill-wise, you should have experience in building out cloud infrastructure and systems in AWS, and do so using the AWS CLI and tools such as Puppet or Ansible as a mechanism for your touchless provisioning. Preferably, you've built things in Python and have experience in a stronger-typed language like Java/Groovy and can appreciate when to use one vs the other.

About You

Our band is large. And while there's plenty of room for all kinds of personalities and skill sets to succeed, there are certain qualities that will help you thrive here.

Like a never-accept-less work ethic. An exceptionally low ego-to-talent ratio (none of the first, tons of the latter). A relentless craving to push past your limits and try new things. The smarts and the humble confidence to take on big challenges, make mistakes fast and early, embrace tough feedback, then recover quickly with fresh, startlingly perfect solutions. A fearless willingness to defend great work. And a tendency to totally geek out on music.

If this sounds like you, read on and let's connect soon.

What You'll Do

* Work with internal partners in SW Dev and SW QA to capture requirements, and synthesize those into a plan-of-action that the team executes.
* Develop and improve the processes and software that drives continuous development & integration.
* Document the systems you build and distribute that knowledge to the product development team.
* Commit to constant improvement in speed, reporting and efficiency of our build, test and deployment processes.

Skills You'll Need

* Undergraduate degree in CS or a related field.
* Professional background in DevOps for Cloud Services; ala AWS.
* Experience in building automation frameworks and/or full web-stack applications in one or more of the following languages: Java, Ruby, Python, C#, Go.
* CI/CD pipeline experience with Jenkins, CircleCI, CodeStar and/or other build automation systems.
* Linux, Networking, Authentication and Cloud Security knowledge.
* Experience working in an Agile framework/Scrum-style environment

We'd love if you also had:

* Understanding of Mobile Apps and their integration with cloud services or firmware applications.
* Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, ELB, S3, SQS, Aurora, ElastiCache, Route53) using their SDK.
