TITLE

Analytical Lab Intern

LOCATION

Orrville, OH (Greater Akron area)

WORK HOURS

Monday through Friday 8 - 5 (Flex hours)

PRIMARY INTERNAL CUSTOMERS

* Sensory
* Research and Development
* Manufacturing Plants

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

* Provide analytical laboratory experience to an individual studying within a Food Science/Chemistry/Biology or related field. Enhance the individual's food product analytical attributes knowledge base.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Operation of analytical equipment (i.e. Karl Fisher % moisture, pH, Aw, viscosity, color, % fat, % protein, % salt and density) for food categories
* Laboratory projects
* Analytical reporting within Smucker databases
* General laboratory glassware upkeep
* Management of an individual analytical project requiring a presentation at the end of the internship
* ISO Certification support

SELECTION CRITERIA

Education

* Working toward a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science or related field
* GPA of 3.0 or higher

Key Qualifications

* Strong chemistry and mathematics background
* Good computer knowledge and skills
* Highly adaptable and flexible to a dynamic environment
* Self-motivated, high energy level
* General laboratory experience
