We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join the Retail Operations team on a 12 month Secondment.

 

The Customer Commercial team is responsible across all channels, all products and contact centres for developing deep performance insights, setting and managing operating budgets, delivering robust driver based forecasts and driving operational excellence across the Customer business unit.

 

The Retail Commercial team is a subset of this team and is responsible for all cost centre management, channel specific business case evaluation and performance management of activities related to the Retail Property division. The Retail channel comprises a ~370 store footprint that includes retail company owned and franchise / dealer stores.

 

The Commercial Manager, Retail Operations will be expected to:

  • Oversee the performance reporting of all retail OPEX and CAPEX related initiatives such as frontline labour productivity, head office retail support, rent, retail fitout and retail operation systems. The role will also drive the labour productivity and the retail operation systems agenda.
  • Lead a team to provide commercial business case and decision support on retail specific issues such as retail viability, opening / closing distribution, greenfields and relocations. Responsibilities include the development and maintenance of complex financial models and business cases ensuring that inputs and assumptions are of high quality and that outputs are of high credibility, as measured by senior business stakeholder buy-in.
  • Possess outstanding written and oral communication skills to proficiently communicate in a compelling and effective way detailed aspects of the financial models and business cases as well as any insights and recommendations derived from the analysis.
  • Provide sound operational performance metrics and benchmarking to assist in the running of the Retail Channel.
  • Lead the monthly Business Performance Review (BPR) for Retail commercial to ensure inputs, analysis and drivers are complete and submitted on time.

 

The role requires an individual who can demonstrate a high degree of commercial acumen, a good understanding of common strategic planning frameworks and methodologies, excellent problem solving and analytical ability, excellent ability to prioritise work and time management across multiple projects, ability to work under pressure and to follow tasks and ideas to completion, and a high degree of flexibility and adaptability in order to respond to changing needs.
