Consumer Australia and the Device Business Unit


We provide customers (retail and SMB) with a range of services including mobile, telephony, business network services, fixed and wireless broadband, satellite services, as well as entertainment and subscription television. The Device Business Unit sits within our Marketing and Product teams. This business unit is pivotal to the success of our Device Supply and Operations in Australia.

What’s this role about?

The role of Vendor Manager is a pivotal role in ensuring the success of Optus, and that we’re making sure our Customers have the products they need, when they need it!


You will be responsible for managing a range of relationships with our valued Android partners such as Huawei, Alcatel, ZTE and Oppo, focussed on the Prepaid category. You will also need to work with your vendors for products for Post-paid category, if circumstances permit.


Your focus will be to both manage the strategic relationship with our valued partners/vendors which include product selection, commercial negotiation of new products and monitoring the performance and end-to-end activity of the relationship.


Secondly, you will lead the Prepaid category which involves helping define a competitive portfolio strategy and roadmap, understanding the challenges and using sound judgement to solve issues and own the product Lifecyle management.


The success to your role will be to understand a customer journey, the lifecycle of a product from testing to launch and effectively managing your time.


You will be working in a team of dedicated specialists and professionals who are some of the best in the Australian Telco market.


You will be able to grow your career, add value and make the role your own. You will also have the opportunity to expand your network by liaising with all manner of stakeholders, companywide.

Who am I?


You will be a passionate individual, with great communication and relationship building skills. You will have about 5 years of experience in Vendor Management within the Telco industry. Further to this, you will have a strong understanding of the technical telco landscape, and experience bringing products to market from testing through to launch.  Your background may have also been in device testing.


Finally, you will have experience managing a variety of stakeholders, weekly meeting commitments and ultimately being strong in time management and productivity.
