Job Description

Akron Ambulatory Foot Surgeons is currently seeking an ambitious Medical Assistant to join our team. With locations in Akron and Stow, the candidates must be able to demonstrate stellar patient service and be willing to adapt in a rapidly changing environment. Job Overview:

  • A ssisting the physician with basic patient care and medical procedures
  • Assisting site managers with directing patient flow, inventory, and following up
  • Provide unparalleled customer service to our patients, adhering to established protocols and work processes, and successfully managing volume without ever compromising quality

Duties & Responsibilities:

Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history in PMS; confirming purpose of visit.

  • Prepares patients for examination, routine and diagnostic testing; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary in PMS
  • Assisting physician when needed or indicated and scribing
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential
  • Counsels patients by transmitting physician's orders
  • Schedules appointments; verifying times with patients; preparing charts, and consent forms
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
  • Serves and protects the medical practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures.

Requirements:

High School or GED required

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program, with Certified (CM) Medical Assistant credential preferred
  • 1-5 years experience
  • Flexible with Full time work schedule including weekends
  • Knowledge of third party payor requirements preferred
  • Strong aptitude for detail, and ability to work independently, required
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Skill in using a PC and laptop required
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is paramount to success
  • Happy and positive thinking, able to project this attitude around others
  • Must exhibit passion for outstanding results and compassion for those we work with and serve
  • Flexible & adaptable nature to work in a continuously evolving environment
  • Team player
  • Excellent communication and bedside manner

Physical requirements:

The job may require from time to time to lift light to moderate amounts of weight, up to 20 lbs (eg, boxes of medical/facility supplies, patient records, etc )

Qualifications
