Job Description

The Quality Engineer will work with the quality manager to define and validate processes in a solution manufacturing and brush plating services environment. This candidate will ensure the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) throughout the organization including three offsite locations. The position has an active role in assessing risk as well as coordinating continuous improvement and preventive action initiatives across all SIFCO ASC, US companies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Brush plating of solutions for product approval and annual testing requirements
  • Approve and certify solutions and supplies for both incoming and outgoing inspections
  • Ensure compliance with customer and regulatory standards
  • Create, revise and maintain quality documents and records
  • Create process maps, flow charts and mind maps to show the correlation between processes and work flows.
  • Oversee the internal audit process and coordinate activities to ensure completion, correction and validation of findings
  • Prepare for customer, AS, ISO, Nadcap and FAA audits at all shop locations
  • Assist the department managers with assessing and mitigating risk
  • Maintain quality metrics through data collection and charts
  • Maintain specification index, review and implement changes which include the maintenance of the test Matrix.
  • Actively seek out and participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Assist in the approval process of new products and design
  • Work with all locations to perform root cause corrective action reports as necessary
  • Participate in daily GEMBA walks providing information related to quality control
  • Travel to other sites to perform audits and troubleshoot
  • Assist in the training of employees for the understanding of the QMS, Specification review and as changes occur within the QMS.

Qualifications Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree of Science and Technology or equivalent work experience of 5 years in Quality and/or Manufacturing environment; Familiarity and other competencies:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience or training in basic chemistry and/or analytical chemistry is preferred
  • CQE preferred
  • Familiar with Brush Plating preferred
  • Knowledge of AMS and Mil Standards
  • Customer and regulatory specification and standards
  • ISO9001 and AS9100, Internal Auditing, Nadcap (Chemical Processing) and FAA Requirements is a plus
  • Root cause analysis tools
  • Visio and Smart Draw
  • Continuous improvement and Lean skills
  • Communication and leadership skills
  • Able to work in cross functional teams including sales, safety, research and design

Other Requirements

Ability to travel both domestically and internationally to support customers and other sites. Exposure to noise and chemicals consistent with a chemical manufacturing environment. Ability to function in Shop and Office environment as well as perform desk/computer work and hands on testing in a laboratory environment.
