Mainstream Engineering (MSE)

Academic Outreach Intern

The Mainstream Segment focuses on the design and engineering needs of Small and Medium Sized Manufacturing businesses. We have established desktop products such as Solid Edge and FEMAP that serve these needs in several Manufacturing industry segments. Outreach to academic institutions and programs is a core element of our Mainstream Engineering business strategy. We require student interns to help develop meaningful and highly targeted educational materials, curriculum, marketing content and relevant programs for students of all ages. Our Academic Outreach Intern can expect to:

* Learn and obtain hands-on experience with our Solid Edge family of engineering applications, including CAD, CAM, and CAE.
* Develop and deliver courseware and tutorials targeted at university and K-12 students.
* Supporting industry and academic events, such as ASME E-Fests, where you will be responsible for demonstrating Solid Edge software and educating students on its benefits.
* Supporting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs; for example, First Robotics, SkillsUSA, and Solar Car Challenge, where you will be responsible for working with educators and students to help them understand the application of Siemens software technology.
* Develop requirements for improving our product and commercial offerings to schools and universities.
* Become a Siemens Student Ambassador within your university and help Siemens in evolving its Student Ambassador Program.

Organizational Requirements:

* Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student majoring in engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience delivering presentations
* Demonstrated leadership abilities
* Experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. Experience with Solid Edge a plus.
* Preferred experience participating in K-12 STEM programs such as First Robotics
