Marketing Operations Intern:

Reporting to the Director of Marketing Operations for Siemens PLM Software and working with the Industry Marketing Director and Marketing Operations Coordinator, the Marketing Operations Intern will have responsibilities that span the following:

1. Supporting reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) and marketing financials
2. Assisting with marketing operations projects, including support for producing the Global Marketing Summit and other ad hoc marketing operations projects
3. Conducting competitive market research
4. Supporting a project analyzing the market presence of Siemens PLM Software in 8 key industries:

- Aerospace & Defense
- Automotive & Transportation
- Consumer Products & Retail
- Electronics & Semiconductors
- Energy & Utilities
- Industrial Machinery & Heavy Equipment
- Marine
- Medical

This is a full time student internship role for summer 2017, with the opportunity to work a flexible number of hours during fall 2017 and spring 2018 as mutually agreed depending on the student's availability. This job provides a valuable opportunity to work on a wide variety of marketing projects with a broad range of global marketing professionals and sales executives. Experience in this roll will contribute to the development of strong analytical skills, long-term career goals, and a roadmap for achieving them.


Reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Marketing Financials
Provide support for maintaining the Marketing Operations Reporting Framework to validate that the marketing investment (marketing spend and headcount) aligns with the revenue expectations and growth opportunities by country, zone and industry as defined in the 5 year country plans. Analyze data anomalies and assist with developing strategies for attaining alignment.

Assisting with Marketing Operations Projects
Assist with operational and administrative activities for the global marketing organization. Provide essential support for the development and execution of an annual Global Marketing Summit and/or regional operations review meetings to ensure strategic and tactical alignment of global marketing activities to meet short and long term business objectives. Manage ad hoc projects on demand as agreed upon with manager.

Conducting Competitive Market Research
Build upon market research conducted by previous interns to expose strengths and opportunities for improvement for the Siemens PLM Software marketing organization, messaging, channels to market, brand image, and recruiting processes. Suggest additional topics to investigate, broaden research to cover more competitors, share impressions of findings and make suggestions for improvement to marketing and HR management.

Market Presence Analysis
Using advanced data manipulation skills within Excel spreadsheets, update existing market presence analysis created for the automotive industry and expand analysis to include data for seven other key industries. The ultimate goal is to develop statements about the presence of Siemens PLM Software within the market (ie. 80% of the top 25 global vehicle manufacturers use PLM solutions from Siemens) with data to back up those statements in customer situations and/or with the press. Project requires collaboration with sales managers to collect data about installations within key accounts as well as industry marketing leads to understand industry rankings.


- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ability to create custom reports
- Relevant course work in marketing or business strongly preferred
- Strong project management skills
- Highly organized and able to coordinate and pursue multiple efforts simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Must be highly motivated, creative, persistent and a self-starter who is adept at coordinating and communicating with a wide variety of individuals


This is a paid internship role featuring a competitive hourly rate.
