Job Description

Summary

A Secretarial Assistant provides clerical support to assigned secretaries and other legal staff by performing duties such as typing, filing, copying and delivering documents to expedite work flow and production. Routine but varied work is conducted under general supervision following prescribed guidelines and/or procedures, while detailed instructions are provided for new assignments.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Performs clerical functions such as organizing files, court papers, and pleading clips, preparing notebooks and exhibits, closing books, duplicating/scanning documents, etc.
* Types labels, forms and other documents as requested using Microsoft Word and other firm software.
* Maintains client files for secretaries and other legal staff. Indexes and prepares files in accordance with the standards set by the Records Management Center.
* Expedites secretarial production and work flow by coordinating and delivering work from other support services such as document processing, supplies, telecommunications, duplicating and messenger and attorney services.
* Inputs attorney daily time through the Firm's billing system.
* Maintains a safe and unobstructed work area, including a neat and well-organized desk.
* Demonstrates safe work practices.
* Performs other work related duties as assigned or as judgment or necessity dictates.

Required:

* College degree or one to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

* Previous experience in a law firm.
* Graduation and certificate from ABA approved Paralegal training program or the equivalent.
