Current Job Opening: RN, Peds

Department: Outpatient Clinic

Status: Casual

Hours: Days 4 days a week and 8 hours a day. Temporary position anticipated through 2019.

Position Summary:

The registered professional nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Shriners Hospitals for Children Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED), which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects.

Job Summary:

Plans and implements care for Orthopedic medical and surgical patients with special consideration for the

needs of infants, toddlers, preschool, school age, adolescent, and young adults.

* Demonstrates clinical competence.
* Assessments are accurate and comprehensive. Interventions are competently performed. Adjusts the plan to meet needs of patient and family. Monitors achievements of planned outcomes.
* Completes required training/education in a timely and competent manner and ensures documentation is complete.

Job Requirements



* Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing required. BSN Degree preferred.
* Current MN Nursing License.
* CPR Certification


* Patient care experience preferred.
* Orthopedic and/or pediatric nursing experience preferred. Computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office Products and Electronic Medical Records.
