Job Description

Electrical Engineer Co-Op

* At this moment, it is likely that you own twenty or more Sensata products. Our devices are hard at work helping to keep your home and vehicle safe, energy efficient, and environmentally sound. Sensata serves numerous industries; from automotive to aircraft to appliances to telecommunications. Our work is to turn physical phenomena (e.g., pressure, temperature, acceleration, position, speed, current, humidity, etc.) into electrical signals using a wide variety of technologies and materials. Sensata specializes in "mission critical" products that must function properly (often in harsh conditions) to control essential systems related to automotive brake performance, engine emissions, solar panel safety, and refrigeration efficiency, to name a few.

Sensata Co-Ops have the unique opportunity to work on a technical project in one of our engineering divisions. Throughout the Co-Op experience, you will receive direct feedback from peers and managers, engage with other Co-Ops in the program, and will have multiple learning opportunities through presentations and training courses.

Co-Op projects and assignments vary from year to year and are based on current business needs at the time of the Co-Op.

* As an Electrical Engineering Co-Op possible responsibilities could include:
* Building, testing and debugging prototype and engineering samples in the lab.
* Working in teams to solve complex technical problems and support high volume production lines.
* Owning the schematic design of electrical circuits and guiding PCB design processes
* Configuring ASICs and off-the-shelf ICs to meet desired requirements
* Applying statistical methods to data analysis.
* Interfacing with customers on key design issues.
* Working in teams to identify and implement the best possible solutions and support high volume production lines.
* Performing design verification on original and/or derivative ideas using analytical and experimental methods.
* Analyzing equipment to establish operating data, conducting experimental tests and evaluating results.
* SPICE, MatLab and other analytical simulation methods
* Interfacing with suppliers to ensure sourced parts will meet technical specifications and help facilitate the material to Sensata lab testing



Successful candidates will be able to:

* Have the ability to work in a fast-paced development environment with complex project attributes.
* Take initiative and think creatively.
* Work as a member of a global and/or cross functional team including process, quality, marketing, purchasing, etc.
* Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills,
* Clearly present design concepts and findings in an easily-digestible manner.
* Show evidence of participation in team-based project work.
* Understand the timelines and inter-dependencies of sub-tasks as part of maintaining the schedule of a larger goal or project

Requirements:

* Be a BSEE or MSEE candidate with a 3.0+ GPA.
* Have a strong understanding of electronic concepts including passive and active component circuitry
* Demonstrated experience with analog design
* Comprehension of common signal processing algorithms and linear systems
* Basic familiarity with microprocessors and embedded coding (e.g. Arduino).
