Job Description

Seneca Foods Corporation of Montgomery, a food production and distribution center located approximately 35 miles southwest of the Twin Cities metro, currently has an opening for a Management Intern for the 2020 production season, which runs from roughly June through September.

This internship is geared toward current or recent undergraduate students. Internships typically run from June through September but are flexible with school schedules.

Seneca Foods Corporation is one of the largest processors of canned and frozen fruits and vegetables in the USA with manufacturing facilities located throughout the country. Seneca's products are sold under the Libby's, Aunt Nellie's Farm Kitchen, Stokely's, Read, and Seneca labels as well as through private label (store brand) and industrial markets. Seneca also produces significant volumes of canned and frozen vegetables for General Mill's Green Giant Brand as part of a long-term Strategic Alliance Agreement.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

We offer a wide range of potential emphases including Agriculture (vegetable crop production), Distribution, Environmental, Manufacturing, Packaging, Quality, and Warehousing areas depending on individual candidates' interests. As a Management Intern, your responsibilities will be to follow established procedures, policies and rules and assist in the overall management of our facilities during the summer production season. No experience is necessary and students seeking Agriculture, Business, Engineering, Food Science, or related degrees are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications

* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work, communicate, and function within all levels of an organization.
* Ability to learn all policies, rules, and procedures and interpret, train and give guidance their meanings.
* Willingness and ability to function and work well in a team environment.
* Ability to work extended hours/weekends when needed during our peak season.

About Seneca Foods

Seneca Foods Corporation is principally engaged in food processing operations. The Company manages its business on the basis of two reportable segments-the primary segment is the processing and sale of fruits and vegetables and secondarily the processing and sale of fruit chip products. These two segments constitute the food operation. The food operation constitutes 99% of total sales, of which approximately 80% is vegetable processing, 19% is fruit processing and 1% is fruit chip processing. The non-food operation is mostly trade sales of cans and ends, which represents 1% of the Company's total sales. The Company's principal branded products are its Libby's canned fruit and vegetable products. The principal products include canned fruits and vegetables, frozen vegetables and other food products.
