Job Description

Interns will work with the Quality Department Supervisor to help train incoming seasonal staff, learn all functions of quality and perform quality checks along with our technicians. They will shadow during food safety audits by both 3rd party auditors and regulatory auditors whenever possible. They will become well versed in how canned and frozen vegetables are processed and tested for food safety. We will train in HACCP principles, Thermal Processing Regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP"s) and sanitation practices of the food industry

Interns should be at least into their 3rd year of their program and have good computer skills in Microsoft Office programs. They need to be able to work independently on projects. Interns need to be able to work in factory conditions while following company and government regulations.

Seneca Foods Corporation is principally engaged in food processing operations. The Company manages its business on the basis of two reportable segments-the primary segment is the processing and sale of fruits and vegetables and secondarily the processing and sale of fruit chip products. These two segments constitute the food operation. The food operation constitutes 99% of total sales, of which approximately 80% is vegetable processing, 19% is fruit processing and 1% is fruit chip processing. The non-food operation is mostly trade sales of cans and ends, which represents 1% of the Company's total sales.
