Our San Diego Design Center, located in the Carmel Mountain Ranch area of San Diego is one of two locations for our Wireless and Sensing Product Groups. This position represents an excellent opportunity for a graduate student to acquire valuable design skills while applying their foundational electrical engineering knowledge.

The Wireless and Sensing Product Group has unique expertise in digitally enhancing leading edge analog products to make them more flexible and programmable. We provide system level platform solutions for Touch & Proximity Sensing Products. These are the world's lowest power touch-interface solutions integrated with highly accurate ADCs for enhanced sensing performance. These ultra-small, feature-rich touch controllers are optimized for a wide range of battery-powered, portable applications such as mobile phones, digital still cameras, media players, GPS, portable computers, handheld gaming devices and other consumer electronics.

We are looking to add to our design team with an individual who can bring fresh ideas and an innovative outlook to:

Architect block or system level design specifications from marketing and/or system requirements

Perform mixed-signal block & system

Generate verification & test plans for design validation

Perform HDL coding & checking, STA result review, CDC checks, Lint checks, RTL/gate level simulations & silicon debugging

Perform FPGA emulation & prototyping

Conduct design tradeoff analysis - die area, dynamic power, leakage, schedule, resource, priority, etc.

To do this, we would want you have:

A BSEE and pursuing an MSEE or similar advanced degree (we will work around your class schedule)

Significant previous experience with RTL design, simulation and synthesis, verification, behavioral modeling

Proficient with VHDL, Verilog, scripting

Formal education along with proficiency with mixed-signal design/simulation and low power design techniques

Familiarity with design for test/manufacturing (DFT/DFM)

Knowledge of the entire IC development flow from specification to volume production, experience with voltage/current references, oscillators, amplifiers, ADC/DAC systems

Knowledge of processor-based system is a plus
