Music Therapist

Our services have been designed for patients who need a longer rehabilitation hospitalization for their recovery. We are currently seeking a Director of Admissions to join our team.

We provide advanced treatment and comprehensive care to best address the medical, physical, emotional and vocational challenges for individuals with:

* Brain Injury
* Spinal Cord Injury
* Stroke
* Amputation
* Neurological Disorders
* Orthopedic Conditions
* Multiple Traumas


Position Summary

Plans, coordinates, and implements music therapy interventions for patients in collaboration and under the supervision of speech therapy in accordance with guidelines set by the organization, hospital and the profession. Serves as an educator to staff and patients on community resources

* Evaluates and works with assigned patients, under direct or indirect supervision of speech therapy, incorporating music therapy interventions and techniques in alignment with speech therapy treatment sessions, goals and plans of care to maximize patient outcomes. Strives to increase patient participation, motivation and enhance quality of life through considering patient needs, wants, interests, and abilities. Promotes and fosters development of new patient skills and interests, or adapts old interests. Adheres to patient medical restrictions
* Carries assigned patient caseload and ensures management of patient schedule. Schedule appropriately balances one-on-one, concurrent and group therapy sessions to maximize patient services and patient participation in speech and music therapy co-treatment program as appropriate.
* Plans special music related events and projects for the patients and encourages patient participation as appropriate and determined by supervisor.
* Allows for continuity of patient services and preparation for discharge by becoming involved in the discharge process for each patient as needed and as time permits. Involvement may include increased awareness and accessibility of community resources including music and music related activities.
* Demonstrates flexibility in schedule to accommodate and maximize patient care. Communicates concerns in schedule to supervisor.
* Contributes information to team members as appropriate and maintains current tracking and documentation related to music therapy program outcomes.
* Demonstrates team building and active participation in departmental and hospital functions in order to promote an efficient and positive work environment.
* Participates in student and volunteer program as assigned and appropriate, providing a positive learning environment for students with appropriate supervision, development of learning objectives and completion of student evaluations.
* Identifies and initiates own professional growth, actively pursuing professional development through continuing education, self -study and involvement in professional activities and organizations.
* Maintains communication with supervisor related to service needs such as necessary supplies, equipment and clinical training in order to effectively complete assigned duties.
* Actively participates in patient and professional advocacy efforts that may include, lobbying activities, health fairs, community level events, professional memberships, fundraising/charitable activities.
* Adheres to State Practice Act and other regulatory agencies. Performs in an ethical manner in accordance with professional code of conduct
* Performs other duties as requested.


* Bachelors Degree reflective of current therapy and practice in music required.
* MT-BC (Music Therapist - Board Certified).
