Job Description

Seagull Schools is a private, non-profit corporation that has
been serving Hawaii's communities by developing and operating early
education facilities since 1971. It is one of the State's largest
childcare providers, serving approximately 1,000 children from
mixed socioeconomic backgrounds.
The Schools' centers are located in Kailua, Ewa Beach, Ko Olina,
Kapolei and Honolulu on the island of Oahu. Two campuses are leased
and three are independently owned by the schools.
All of Seagull Schools early education programs are fully
accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young
Children (NAEYC), considered the most stringent of all early
education accrediting organizations.
Seagull Schools is unique in offering intergenerational programs
in which seniors participate with preschoolers. This is one of the
strategic initiatives for Seagull Schools.
Seagull Schools also operates a commercial kitchen responsible
for serving 2,500 meals to its students every school day. It
conforms to USDA and state regulations.
This position replaces the founder who is retiring after 46
years. The workforce is very engaged and passionate about the
mission and vision.
The Executive Director, under the direction of the Board, is
responsible for the strategic vision, planning, leadership and
accountability by working closely with staff and in partnership
with community stakeholders. In close collaboration with the Board
of Directors, the Executive Director develops and implements
long-range strategic planning goals, oversight of finances,
strategies, plans, and policies. The position has full
responsibility and authority for staff and personnel matters,
facilities, food service as well as oversight and ongoing
development. The Executive Director shall establish and maintain a
positive working atmosphere that promotes an open, cooperative,
energetic and innovative team environment that enhances Seagull
Schools' programs and services.
The Executive Director for Seagull Schools is expected to be a
thought leader in Early Childhood Education within the State of
Hawaii and thus active with many organizations through this role.
Seagull Schools has been fortunate to have the support of many
foundations and community partnerships and the Executive Director
needs to be skilled at nurturing and maintaining this support.
Minimum Qualifications:

Leadership style aligned with the Schools' culture and
Bachelor's degree.
Minimum of five years' experience in education.
Demonstrated strong passion for early childhood education.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to interface and engage with diverse cultures.
Proven ability to oversee, nurture and develop staff.
