194322 Intern - Recording Subsystems Modeling (Open)

About the group:

We are looking for a Recording Subsystems Modeling Intern for the System Modeling and Data Analysis Group within Seagate Research. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining existing models that simulate a variety of recording technologies. In addition to software development, modeling of advanced recording systems will be required. This work might include, but is not limited to, designing detailed modeling DOEs, comparing modeling data to experiment, and presenting results to internal and external development teams.

About you:

* Student pursuing a PhD degree in electrical engineering, physics or similar field
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to program in CUDA/C++.
* Familiarity with Linux servers.
* Familiarity with signal processing.
* Familiarity with electronic structure calculations.
* Teamwork is a core competency at Seagate, so individual must be able to work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of engineers and technicians.
* Demonstrated innovation and self-motivated worker.
* Must be able to communicate across functional teams spanning division and company boundaries.
* Must have demonstrated ability to study a functional area in depth.
* A desire to learn drive integration, reliability analysis, recording modeling, and recording performance requirements.
