184303 Preamp Engineer - Entry Level (Open)

About the Team:

Seagate has an exciting entry level opportunity in our VLSI development team at our design center in Longmont, Colorado.

Work in the advanced preamplifier VLSI development group with a small group of highly skilled engineers in developing pre-amplifiers for disk drive applications.

About the Role:

This Preamp position will be a great fit for an individual with knowledge and interest in high frequency analog signal and transmission line theory.

Both of these areas are heavily used in testing and debugging the preamp design.

You will:

* Focus on the testing and verification of new preamp designs at a bench level
* Develop new tests to ensure the preamp silicon meets the criteria of new features in the preamp design.
* Interface with Seagate product integration teams, head/meadia organizations, so communication skills are important to aid in the ability to interface with preamp vendors in the design phase of the preamp.
* Use problem solving and technical analysis skills everyday.

About You:

* Knowledge and understanding of magnetic recording principles and disk drive designs
* Knowledge of lab test equipment (oscilloscopes and network analyzers) is a must
* A good understanding of high frequency analog signal theory, signal processing, and transmission line theory
* Programming knowledge in Matlab and Python is recommended
* Knowledgeable with basic Electrical Engineering lab equipment
* Knowledgeable with Microsoft word, excel, and power point
* Ability to work as a team player in a small team of engineers
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, EE/CS or related area

You May Also Have:

* Knowledge in layout tools such as Mentor Graphics and Autocad
* Knowledge in signal processing tools such as ADS and Ansoft
* Masters Degree Electrical Engineering, EE/CS or related area
