Job Description

The Opportunity
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Associate Application Engineer (Automation) position to provide technical support to the South Central region of the U.S. This position can be located in either Houston or Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas. If you are looking for an opportunity to travel and solve real world technical problems, train customers on SEL products and become recognized as an industry expert in a fast growing global company, then this position is for you!
Associate Application Engineer - Automation
Responsibilities:
Develop working knowledge of power systems, Automation, and all related SEL products.
Help customers apply SEL products through visits, demonstrations, training courses and telephone contact.
Contribute to product specifications, application, and testing software, and literature.
Participate in and complete Engineering Development Program.
Participate in SEL marketing and sales activities and industry technical meetings and conferences.
Teach training schools for customers and SEL personnel.
Follow and improve marketing, sales and engineering quality procedures.
Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve marketing, sales, and engineering quality procedures.
Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, equivalent degree, or equivalent work experience
Competent technical training, speaking and writing skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Ability to travel
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:
M.S. in Electrical Engineering, with emphasis in focus area*
Experience in SEL Internship Program
Experience using SEL products
