Job Description


The Forecasting R&D team at SAS is pleased to announce the Forecasting Graduate Intern opportunity. The program provides an excellent opportunity to explore software development as a career choice. Students in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Business or related analytical fields, working towards a graduate degree in the United States are invited to apply.


As a member of the Advanced Analytics R&D development team, you will work closely with Ph.D.-level experts to create innovative software that applies cutting-edge statistical methods for automating enterprise-scale business forecasting processes. Your duties include researching computational algorithms, designing, programming, testing and documenting software, communicating with other SAS professional staff in Testing, Technical Support, Education, Marketing, and other departments, and performing other tasks as assigned.


* A student working towards a Masters or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Business or related analytical field
* Demonstrated experience in statistical computing beyond the routine classroom use of statistical packages
* Excellent computer programming skills
* Excellent mathematical skills
* Working knowledge of Windows and/or UNIX operating systems
* Superior verbal and written communication skills


* Familiarity with time series analysis, data mining, marketing, econometrics, and/or forecasting
* Familiarity with the SAS language, R, Python, C or C++
* Familiarity with source control management systems such as CVS or Git
* Familiarity with the software development process
