Job Description

:

The Advanced Field Operations and Robotics department is looking for a UNM or CNM year\-round ME student, preferably in their junior or senior year of studies, to join their team as an Intern Year\-Round \- Technical Undergrad\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Take detailed measurements and build high\-fidelity 3D CAD models of existing hardware
+ Make quick proof of concept CAD models to help relay ideas and information to customers
+ Create 3D\-printed models of concepts or fit\-check models using our in\-house printing capabilities
+ Perform maintenance and repairs on various robotic platforms at the complex
+ Perform basic machining and assembly operations in support of projects
+ To come up with novel ideas and solutions to complex problems
+ To be a self\-starter, and learn to solve problems both with and without the assistance of other group members

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Desired:

+ 3D design experience in AutoCAD, Solidworks, or similar applications
+ Experience with electro\-mechanical systems, robotic systems, or similar
+ Demonstrated, hands\-on experience designing, developing, and assembling complex mechanical systems \(e\.g\., Formula SAE, rocket system\)

Department Description:

The Advanced Field Operations & Robotics Department specializes in developing advanced hardware and software solutions that develop, integrate and test advanced mobility, manipulation, perception, control, and automated technologies\. Over the past three decades technologies have been fielded for use in military surveillance, autonomous, demining, mine rescue operations, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal \(EOD\) team support\. The Department has a large outdoor test facilities to support a variety of programs and development needs\. The Robotic Vehicle Range \(RVR\) is a 320\-acre outdoor test range used to support the design, development, and testing of mobile robotic systems\.

Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.
