Job Description


The Advanced Field Operations and Robotics department is seeking a UNM year\-round CS/CE student\(s\), preferably in their junior or senior year of studies, to join their team as an Intern Year Round \- Technical Undergrad\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ To understand, build, and train complex neural networks that classify images, and data
+ To use python to manipulate complex and sometimes scattered data sets, for use in machine learning applications
+ To contribute to projects involving desktop and web applications, using C\# and visual studio
+ To contribute to projects targeting Virtual Reality headsets, using Unity
+ To learn and understand how schema less databases work, and how they can improve application performance
+ To come up with novel ideas and solutions to complex problems
+ To be a self\-starter, and learn to solve problems both with and without the assistance of other group members
+ To participate in software testing, helping to ensure our fielded software is of high quality and bug free


You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship


+ Programming experience in at least one of the following: C, Java, JavaScript, Python, or other modern programming language\.
+ Experience in building Machine Learning applications using open source, industry leading Machine Learning algorithms
+ Basic understanding of digital electronics

Department Description:

The Advanced Field Operations & Robotics Department specializes in developing advanced hardware and software solutions that develop, integrate and test advanced mobility, manipulation, perception, control, and automated technologies\. Over the past three decades technologies have been fielded for use in military surveillance, autonomous, demining, mine rescue operations, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal \(EOD\) team support\. The Department has a large outdoor test facilities to support a variety of programs and development needs\. The Robotic Vehicle Range \(RVR\) is a 320\-acre outdoor test range used to support the design, development, and testing of mobile robotic systems\.

Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.

Sandia will conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications\. Further, employees in New Mexico must pass a U\.S\. Air Force background screen for access to the work site\.
