Job Description

:

We are seeking a highly motivated Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our diverse team of experts\. You will provide guidance regarding compliance with complex federal, state, local and Department of Energy \(DOE\) regulations and requirements including environmental, safety, health, safeguards and security, emergency management\. You will act as the point of contact for Sandia Corporation with regulatory agencies and DOE entities\. You will track new and changing regulations and requirements\. Routinely perform technical evaluations and then advises management on methods and practices for effective and efficient compliance\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Develop policies, procedures, methods, and approaches to ensure that Sandia National Laboratories' \(SNL\) practices will be in compliance with the appropriate regulations and requirements\.
+ Perform technical analyses of regulations and requirements that ultimately influence implementation of site processes to ensure compliance\.
+ Support the investigation and resolution of compliance problems, questions or complaints received from within SNL, regulatory agencies, and DOE\.
+ Manage day to day operations of the Chemical Information system and related modules
+ Support other ES&H modules such as Open Range and EIS as needed\.
+ Coordinate subcontractor support for chemical labeling and reconciliation\.
+ Perform technical analyses of regulations and requirements that ultimately influence implementation of site processes to ensure compliance\.

Required:

+ Bachelor's degree in ES&H, Engineering, or a closely related field plus five or more years of relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience\.

Desired:

+ ASP/CSP certification\.
+ Excellent oral and written communications skills\.
+ Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Chemical Inventory, Open Range Software, ES&H related software systems, chemical labeling knowledge\.
+ Understanding of DOE orders/codes/standards\.
+ Work experience applying safety principles in a research and development environment\.
+ Experience with compliance work in complex federal, state, local and Department of Energy \(DOE\) regulations and requirements \(environmental, safety, health, safeguards and security, emergency management\)\.
+ Current DOE security L or Q clearance\.

Department Description:

Department 00622 leads the Corporate Safety Engineering \(SE\) programs for the laboratories\. The department is responsible for developing Environment, Safety & Health \(ES&H\) policy sections and the supporting infrastructure to implement Integrated Safety Management, DOE orders and OSHA regulations for SE programs\. Customers include the general laboratory population, ES&H professionals, and ES&H Coordinators\. In addition to leading SE programs, specific department activities include OSHA recordkeeping, injury prevention, the safety campaign, and the Explosive Information System \(EIS\), records and reporting administration, and supporting Division ES&H customer support teams with workplace hazard identification and mitigation\. The Department also provides a cadre of Safety professionals who are a part of the Division ES&H Customer Support Teams\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
