Job Description

:

We are seeking a student intern for the Facilities Building Systems Engineering department\. Our department works on all aspects of building engineering from the roof to the chillers in the basement\. Our department includes mechanical, electrical, structural, building automation, and energy engineers and the corporate architect\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Set up data loggers to log energy data
+ Use data analytics software to evaluate energy usage and recommend corrective measures
+ Collect field data during building walkthroughs
+ Update electrical panel schedules
+ Create one\-line drawings
+ Update drawings
+ Review specifications

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in architecture or engineering from an ABET accredited university or college
+ Proven enthusiasm

Desired:

+ Programing experience
+ CAD experience
+ Modeling experience
+ GIS experience

Department Description:

The Building Systems Engineering Department \(4851\) provides a comprehensive perspective of building systems, at the system level\. The department conducts condition assessments, develops system sustainment plans, develops and implements standards and specifications that guide modifications to the systems, and perform analytics of the Facilities Controls System \(FCS\)\. These activities are performed collaboratively with the operations teams to address issues and trends\. The department also includes the Energy Program, looking at sustainability and energy performance across the sites\.

Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.

Sandia will conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications\.
