Job Description


We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Electronics Technologist to join our high performing, creative, and passionate team of experts, scientists, and engineers\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Develop, build, modify, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic apparatus and equipment, including electronic fabrication, packaging, and assembly of components into complex electronic equipment systems;
+ Fabricate, package, and test semiconductors, printed circuit board design and test, circuit or micromodules;
+ Assist in conducting experiments and acquiring data;
+ Analyze data and recommends modifications to components or test procedures to meet desired specifications\.

+ Skill in electronics or related technologies, such as mechanics or optics;
+ Knowledge and experience with electrical design, installation, testing, repair, and maintenance;
+ Ability to conceptualize and communicate major elements of electrical design, engineering, or maintenance;
+ Ability to prepare and present electrical systems and equipment testing and reporting;
+ Knowledge of the use, distribution, and potential variances and hazards of electrical currents;
+ Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, layouts, and other related specifications;
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L\-level security clearance\.


+ Knowledge of Sandia National Laboratories’ electricity\-related policies, practices, and procedures;
+ Knowledge of requirements and environmental impacts affecting electrical design, engineering, and maintenance;
+ Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting electronic systems and equipment;
+ Ability to work independently and as well as part of a team;
+ Current DOE L\-level security clearance\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L\-level security clearance, which requires U\.S\. citizenship\.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance\. This Limited Term Employee \(LTE\) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years\.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance\.
