Job Description

:

This position will focus heavily on software engineering, and data assimilation/delivery for multiple current and future Sandia initiatives\. New methods to acquire, integrate, transform, and prepare/present data for use must be developed and deployed to enable robust data analytics and increase the value that can be obtained from information assets\. New data delivery capabilities will be deployed and automated to deliver sustained capability\. The goal is to deliver data centric solutions in response to corporate/business concerns and mission challenges\.

Required:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science; Information Systems, Software Engineering or relevant discipline, or equivalent:

- higher degree \(MS, PhD\) in relevant discipline; or
- experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties of the job\.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance\.

Desired:

+ Back\-end development skills \(and tools\) to include: Python, Java, REST, Junit, SVN/GIT, Spring, Spring Boot, Gradle, Maven, Spring Data\.
+ Front\-end development skills \(and tools\) to include: HTML/CSS, JavaScript, JavaScript Frameworks, AngularJS, Angular 5, web services consumption, event handling, and responsive/mobile design\.
+ Experience with deploying and administering software applications and/or data products in a production environment\.
+ Demonstrated ability to participate in large complex projects
+ Big data modeling and design experience
+ Experience with ingestion, integration, and use of diverse data content
+ Experience with the development of data/app solutions for multiple device platforms
+ Process automation experience
+ Ability to thrive in a teaming environment with a strong customer service ethic
+ Working knowledge of Systems Engineering, ITIL best practices, and Scrum/Agile/Rally delivery
+ Demonstrated ability to analyze simple to complex business processes and procedures with goal of optimizing processes and resolving pain points\.
+ Demonstrated ability to perform requirements gap analysis against out\-of\-the\-box application/system functionality and suggest best practice solutions\.
+ Demonstrated ability to review designs with business owners and ensure alignment of design and development activities with customer requirements and project delivery\.
+ Understanding of data collection, data modeling and analysis, and decision making concepts; and implementation of systems that supports these concepts\.
+ Expertise in SQL, Data Virtualization, Data Visualization, Data Transformation
+ Experience with systems administration of COTS tools\.
+ Experience with development and deployment of applications in a Cloud architecture\.

Department Description:

The primary mission of the Data Sciences Department is to increase the value that Sandia obtains from information assets\. In order to accomplish this mission, the Department focuses on streamlining data access with governance, integrating and federating data, data quality issues, data virtualization, and the creation of a scalable analytic service architecture\. Data Sciences provides data analytics and visualization services, and software engineering of applications in support of analytic tools\. The goal is to enable Sandia to obtain actionable insights from data and make high\-confidence decisions\. Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
