Job Description

:

We are seeking an Engineering Support Technologist to support the development and testing of B61\-12 Joint Test Assembly \(JTA\) assets\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Support the oversight of JTA hardware, support JTA assembly as needed, support fiber optic testing as needed
+ Support field tests including operations related the JTA Data Analysis Trailer – driving the truck pulling the trailer, setting the trailer up on Air Force flight lines, working trailer logistics at various sites\.
+ Support lab operations, including the purchase of equipment, maintenance of supplies and management of inventory
+ Support of data acquisition and processing

Required:

+ Associates degree in a relevant technical STEM field plus 2 years relevant experience
+ Experience in a laboratory environment
+ Active US DOE Q security clearance or DoD Top Secret clearance

Desired:

+ Ability to work collaboratively with a high performing team\.
+ Good communication skills\.
+ Experience reviewing engineering drawings including assembly procedures\.
+ Experience managing hardware inventory and assembly data\.
+ Experience with hands on assembly of test assets\.

Department Description:

The B61\-12 Non\-WR Systems Engineering department \(2324\) is one of ten departments responsible for the Sandia system program management, design and qualification of the B61\-12 life extension program \(LEP\)\. These ten departments work closely with each other and with other agencies within the Nuclear Security Enterprise \(e\.g\., NNSA, Kansas City Plant, Pantex Plant\) and within the DoD \(e\.g\., Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center\) to execute the B61 LEP\. Department 2324 is responsible for the design and delivery of non\-WR system assemblies for the B61\-12: Joint Test Assembly \(JTA\), Compatibility Test Units \(CTUs\), Trainers and Ancillary Equipment, and Flight Bodies/IOT&E bodies\. The department activities include design, testing and assembly and interfaces heavily with the other B61\-12 departments as well as with system and component organizations throughout Sandia\.

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance to start\.
