Job Description


We are seeking a Quality Engineer

An energetic quality engineer is needed to participate in development of emerging Transportation Safeguards and Surety Program \(TSSP\) product\. These activities include, influencing todays development through requirements analysis to design qualification that shall also support fleet surveillance assessments in concert with a set of modern testers at several facilities, and advanced maintenance inspections utilizing non\- destructive inspection \(NDI\) methods\. Individuals shall team with technically strong, proactive department associates to interact with customer and group personnel to identify, communicate, resolve, monitor, and document mission issues, lessons learned, and corrective actions associated with transportation surety and related realization activities\. The departments utilize an intellectually diverse team oriented, accelerated learning, and performance risk based approach, to have a positive impact on TSSP product for various customer missions\.

All 6620 organizations are preparing for a significant increase in realization activities for several key TSSP projects and in particular for the Mobile Guardian Transporter \(MGT\)\. Staff is needed to participate in post CDR/BDR development, design and qualification of transportation performance in various environments/scenarios at the system and subsystem levels\. On any given day, as a part of a high\-performance team you may be called on to:

+ Support the development, qualification, and documentation of product and testers with key partners\.
+ Support the development of an enhanced fleet surveillance program to measure performance of existing and emerging TSSP product for life time operations\.
+ Support the integration and deployment of various TSSP products into SafeGuards Transporter \(SGT\)/MGT transportation systems\.
+ Support peer review designs and qualification strategy of various TSSP subsystems and components\.
+ Participate in developing the TSSP quality program strategy for the future\.
+ Support TSSP program quality oversight either by assisting external entities’ assessments or by developing and executing required internal assessments\.

The successful candidates have an opportunity with key leadership to shape the future for fleet surveillance and upgrades required in the coming years while enhancing our groups technical rigor for product realization and engaging in new ideas for new product/capabilities\.


+ Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with minimum of two years related experience or a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline\.
+ Some experience in quality program assessments\.
+ Some experience in leading or participating on high performance teams supporting product realization of high consequence systems\.
+ Active DOE L or Q or equivalent clearance
+ Occasional travel may be required\.


+ BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
+ Software development experience\.
+ Knowledge of physical or transportation security methodology\.
+ Concurrent engineering experience with suppliers or production agencies\.
+ Experience in requirements analysis, qualification plan development, and supporting large scale testing of complex systems\.
+ Some experience with component integration into a high\-performance system\.
+ Some experience in qualification of product and processes\.
+ Ability to implement tools and methodologies to improve product realization execution

Department Description:

The Transportation Safeguards and Surety Program \(TSSP\) \(6620\) mission is to assess risks, characterize surety concerns, develop, and deploy innovative solutions for Physical, Cyber, and Communication Systems for use in high consequence transportation environments\.

Within the group, the Transportation System Analysis Department \(6621\) evaluates and seeks to continually improve the product realization of high consequence transportation products through various life cycle assessment/analysis activities\. A major element of present work is to evaluate life cycle activities for emerging new products supporting the fleet\. A team is developing an enhanced fleet surveillance program requiring product tester modernization concurrent with development and product acceptance activities with key partners\. All 6620 Departments are working in concert to support several emerging TSSP products and associated qualification/surveillance activities to assure life cycle support and knowledge preservation in a dynamic TSSP environment\. New team members are needed to help execute these key activities\.
