We are seeking an Intern Year Round \- Technical Undergrad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot database performance
+ Develop routine database process improvement
+ Train colleagues in how to input, extract, and track data from database
+ Design, prepare database query reports \(for db users\)
+ Improve effectiveness of database and website tools and services \(including visualization\)
+ Upgrade database, software, and website as required

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited science, engineering, or math undergraduate program
+ Knowledge and experience with HTML, SQL, JavaScript

Desired:

+ Undergraduate student in science or engineering\-related degree program
+ Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teams and independently
+ Ability to perform research on energy storage deployments around the world, to synthesize and analyze complex source materials, and to present research results in a coherent manner
+ Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software, including data analytics
+ Website and database knowledge: approved standards, controls, and protocol
+ Hands\-on experience involving technical aspects of website development
+ Motivated self\-starter, with strong desire to learn about a wide variety of science\-based topics in energy storage's multiple disciplines
+ Independently prioritize and efficiently manage multiple tasks
+ Ability to troubleshoot emerging problems and events\-of\-the\-day
+ Ability to provide project delivery based on scope \(on time and on budget\)

Department Description:

The Energy Storage Technology and Systems Department is focused on the development of advanced energy storage technologies and systems including the development of low cost battery technologies, safety and reliability of energy storage systems, power electronics and power conversion systems, computational and analytical tools for efficient utilization of energy storage in the electricity infrastructure\. In addition, the department manages several activities for the DOE OE Energy Storage program related to the deployment and demonstration of new energy storage projects, including the development of methods and tools to evaluate the performance of storage systems, and methods for the optimal utilization of energy storage assets\. The department works closely with a number of departments across Sandia in materials sciences, power sources, electrical sciences, fire science, power systems, renewables and grid integration\. We also have active collaborations with many stakeholders in the electricity industry including electric utilities, product developers, universities and other national laboratories to enable the development and rapid integration of energy storage technologies in the electricity infrastructure\.

Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.

Sandia will conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications\.
