Job Description

:

We are seeking an Intern Co\-op \- Technical Undergrad

An opportunity exists for an electrical engineering student to join the Energy Storage Technology and Systems Team\. The successful candidate will support the Group through R&D efforts along with working with utilities, state energy offices, and other partners to further the use of electrical energy storage in grid applications\.

This position will work in a team environment to provide R&D on energy storage, analyze data collected from energy storage sites, and to provide support to engineers in their efforts to foster partnerships with outside groups\. Work will take place at the Sandia, Albuquerque, New Mexico site\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Support the ES Demonstrations team in their day to day tasks
+ Set up electronic file systems to maintain archived and current Energy Storage Demonstration Projects documentation
+ Coordinate and schedule meetings \(on and off site\) for Principal Investigators
+ Assist in documenting Procurement requests
+ Coordinate and participate in teleconferences as note\-taker
+ Assess various energy storages systems through financial analysis
+ Respond to routine questions about the project, project processes and key players according to Project Manager's guidance
+ Work with private and public partners on a variety of energy storage projects
+ Participate in the writing of RFPs and the subsequent evaluation of bids received
+ Prepare presentations on a wide range of energy storage related topics
+ Prepare and follow up on a variety of legal documents \(MOUs, NDAs, SSJs, etc\.\)
+ Receive visitors and work with the corporate badging system \(staff\)

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Undergraduate student at an accredited university
+ Enrolled full time in the term immediately preceding the internship
+ Registration with the university's co\-op office
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional requirements:

+ Working towards a bachelor’s degree in an electrical engineering related discipline

Desired:

+ Experience and knowledge about working with energy storage systems
+ Strong oral and written communication skills
+ Previous technical writing experience
+ Ability to work independently and in a team environment
+ Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications
+ Experience performing financial analysis
+ An expressed interest in the electrical energy storage project development and demonstrations
+ Ability to multi\-task AND complete tasks on time
+ Willingness to learn how to place external contracts and purchase orders

The Energy Systems Analysis Department provides a capability within Sandia to assess future energy options, modernize the US energy infrastructure, and to help identify the critical research and development needs to ensure the future reliability, sustainability, and security of our customer's energy systems and the nation's energy infrastructure\. Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.
