Job Description


We are seeking an Intern Summer \- Technical Undergrad

Selected candidates will contribute to multi\-disciplinary systems analysis studies by assisting technical staff with research design, execution, and communication\. This work will augment existing project teams in researching, developing and evaluating system solutions that address national security challenges\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Review relevant literature across disciplines
+ Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data
+ Develop databases and resource repositories
+ Evaluate options and tradeoffs for customers
+ Communicate research findings through written reports and presentations

General knowledge in one or more of the following areas will provide a strong foundation to conduct this work: national security studies, international studies, political science, economics, statistics, public policy, systems dynamics, organizational behavior\.


You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time \(or scheduled to graduate in the spring\) in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

+ Ability to define and investigate complex problems and formulate solution options
+ Ability to work in a collaborative environment
+ Strong oral and written communication skills

Department Description:

The Systems Analysis Group has six departments that work closely together to provide independent, objective studies and analyses of nuclear weapons, national security and institutional development issues pertinent to Sandia, NNSA, and other external national security customers\. The Group is relatively unique within the DOE community and strives to be the analytic organization of choice that informs the debate and enables decision makers to address issues vital to national security\. The departments often work in concert with partners inside and outside the laboratory\. The Strategic Futures and Policy Analysis department mission space includes Sandia Mission Integration activities, non\-proliferation, and energy security\.

Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.

Sandia will conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications\. Further, employees in New Mexico must pass a U\.S\. Air Force background screen for access to the work site\. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause access to be denied or terminated, rendering the inability to perform the duties assigned and resulting in termination of employment\.
