Job Description

:

The Infrastructure Services Center is seeking a Facilities Technologist to perform work as an Office Designer\. The Office Designer will provide design support to customers for work centered around office remodels, \(which can include small electrical/mechanical modifications, movement of walls, installation of modular furniture systems, network connections, etc\.\) The FE Office designer will work extensively with customers, other Facilities staff \(as required\), contractors, and Facilities management to ensure customer modifications/upgrades are executed and completed in a timely manner and within scope and budget\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Be the technical point of contact with Customers for office renovation work\.
+ Be responsible for all aspects of an office renovation \(i\.e\., customer interactions, design, construction coordination, and addressing any issues customers may have with the final product\)\.
+ Negotiate with and update Customer and Facilities Management on scope, cost, schedule, quality, and change requests for all assigned projects\.
+ Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously\.
+ Ensure compliance with Corporate and Facilities environmental, safety, and health \(ES&H\) requirements\.
+ Obtain Project Funding Authorization from Customers\.
+ Work with construction suppliers, modular furniture vendors \(predominately Steelcase and Hayworth furniture lines are used at Sandia\), and flooring contractor to oversee construction activities\.
+ Update record drawings to accurately reflect the current as\-built state due to an office renovation\.
+ Monitor contract warranty requirements and coordinate any necessary follow\-up work\.

Selected applicants will be required to pass a Job Placement Assessment before beginning the job to ensure that they can perform the essential physical requirements, with or without accommodations\.

Required:

+ Twp \(2\) years of experience/proficiency using either Autodesk CADD software products \(e\.g\. AutoCAD\) or Bentley CADD products \(e\.g\., Microstation\)\.
+ Two \(2\) years of office design/remodel experience using system furniture\.
+ Construction/field experience in office renovation including knowledge of design standards, practices, protocols, and system furniture component assembly details\.
+ Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite \(e\.g\., Work, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook\) and Internet Explorer\.

Desired:

+ Associates degree or higher in Architecture, CADD, or Engineering\.
+ Experience in architectural interior finishes including case work, flooring, and wall finishes\.
+ Project Management experience\.
+ Experience working with Sandia’s FMOC organization and knowledge of Sandia design standards\.
+ High academic performance\.
+ Experience using 3D CADD visualization software \(e\.g\., Steelcase 3D tool, Revit, CET, etc\.\)\.
+ Experience working with Maximo and Oracle software\.
+ Demonstrated ability to “think on your feet” when dealing with customers and to make logical and prudent decisions when under customer scrutiny and time pressures\.
+ Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills\.
+ Demonstrated Customer Service skills\.
+ Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance complex competing activities\.
+ Must be a self\-motivated individual that can work both independently as well as have demonstrated the ability to work in a close\-knit team environment\.
+ Experience working with both Steelcase and Hayworth system furniture lines\.
+ Active DOE “Q” clearance that can be transferred to Sandia\.

Department Description:

The Customer Operations Support Department provides expedited and rapid turnaround engineering design and construction support \(referred to as Facilities Express FE\) for small projects \(typically ranging from $1K to $100K\) that are identified and funded by line organizations\. The department also provides inspection, safety, and work acceptance support for all construction projects performed at Sandia National Laboratories to ensure construction code compliance\.
