Job Description


The Creative Services Department is seeking a Communications Technologist to perform work as a Video Engineering technician and AV/ Auditorium Operator\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Assist with the maintenance of video/audio/lighting/computer equipment used to support video production in auditoriums, field set\-ups, and video production facilities\.
+ Be responsible for supporting a large staff of video producers who work with a wide range of audio, video, and photography products and services that occasionally involve classified material\.

Candidate must be able to serve customers efficiently and effectively under tight timelines, possess a positive attitude and clear communications skills, work independently with minimal supervision, and support a strong team environment\.

The working environment for this position can be demanding at times and requires that the candidate possess the ability to work effectively under pressure\.


+ 3 years of experience in design, procurement, installation, trouble shooting, maintenance and operations of a broad variety of equipment associated with video production, editing, duplication, streaming, and encoding\.
+ 3 years of experience working with broadcast quality projection/presentation/video production equipment including multi\-channel audio mixers, audio equalizers, multimedia and multi\-screen presentations, and various video recording/playback formats\.
+ Experience with troubleshooting, installing and integrating video and audio for live production, post\-production, Auditoriums and projection systems\.
+ Experience with Linux, Windows and Macintosh computer platforms\.
+ Experience with encoding processes for Windows Media, QuickTime, and M\-PEG 4 video files and video streaming\.


+ Experience working with and knowledge of classified video requirements\.
+ Experience with A/V control systems
+ Experience with projection blending and display processors\.
+ Experience with operations & troubleshooting of video conferencing and Skype systems\.
+ Experience designing and supporting various Audio/Visual systems for special mission applications including “live” outside events\.
+ Experience with Broadcast and A/V equipment repair/maintenance\.
+ Ability to define standards for equipment and formats for the department\.
+ Experience maintaining Avid editing suites and Avid Nexis/Interplay online editing platform\.

Department Description:

Provides professional graphic design, animation, technical writing/editing, video production, audiovisual and off\-site event production, digital display and mobile application design and printing services that contribute to the success of the Laboratories and its mission\. The department is funded by a combination of indirect funding and Service Center cost recoveries\. The services provided include, but are not limited to photography, publication design and layout, interactive multimedia presentations, exhibit design and planning, interior design, poster fabrication, graphic illustrations, corporate auditoriums, and video production\.

Security Clearance:
