Job Description

:

The role of the Center Safeguard and Security \(S&S\) Coordinator is to assist staff and management in Safety & Security performance and compliance, assure Safety & Security compliance in the Center, and play an active role in the Division's Self\-Assessment process\. The Candidate will also conduct trending analyses that identifies security threats and risks for the Center and provide recommendations to management on corporate policies, general operations, and business activities\. This role also requires working on Division 5000 Security program planning and integration activities with up to a ½ time level of effort\.

Job Responsibilities for the Safeguards and Security Coordinator include but are not limited to:

+ Maintains processes and systems that assist Center MOWs and management in assuring operational excellence\.
+ Tracks assessment data to identify cross\-cutting issues and/or best practices\. Monitors Safety & Security metrics, and identifies performance trends and opportunities for improvement\.
+ Communicates changes in the requirements through: Lessons Learned, Best Practices, and other forms of media to staff and management\.
+ Acts as the primary POC to the Safety & Security corporate organizations, and Center and Division offices\.
+ Keeps Center Management informed of performance and potential vulnerabilities before they become an issue or a problem\.
+ Leads and coordinates Center audits and assessments for the organization\.
+ Updates and communicates metrics as applicable to Center Management\.
+ Participates in development of Division standards and policies\.
+ Leads root\-cause analyses \(RCAs\) as necessary, and inputs information into the Assurance Information System \(AIS\)\.
+ Ensures that DOE reporting requirements are met when applicable\.
+ Communicates problems and concerns from Members of the Workforce to the Division Safeguard & Security Coordinator, and appropriate Safety & Security organizations\.
+ Identifies, interprets, and applies security system standards, policies, required upgrades, maintenance activities, and day\-to\-day monitoring for new and existing facilities\.
+ Provides solutions to specific security requirements identified by customer which could impacts mission requirements\.
+ An additional key responsibility will be the development, implementation and maintenance of the D5K Area of Responsibility Security Plan\. This will require approximately ½ time level of effort in addition to the Center Coordinator support role\.

Required:

+ Requires a bachelor’s degree in STEM or safety related discipline or equivalent relevant experience \(up to two years\)\.
+ Familiar with SNL Cyber Security Management Structure, Program Plan, and NNSA and Sandia Cyber Security policy and classified systems\.

Desired:

+ Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or safety related discipline or equivalent relevant experience \(up to five years\) or Master's degree in STEM or safety related discipline\.
+ Knowledge of and experience with one or more major security areas, such as classified matter protection and control, classification, information security, incident management, personnel security, facility clearances, physical security, program security, and computer security\.
+ High level of proficiency with Excel\.
+ Proficiency with SharePoint\.
+ Working knowledge of the SIMP process\.
+ Familiar with Sandia information management requirements e\.g\. AIS
+ Experience or general knowledge of SNL S&S requirements and implementation\.
+ Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills\.
+ Root Cause Analysis Familiarity\.
+ Self\-motivated, work well under pressure and be able to prioritize work assignments with little supervision\.
+ Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff and management\.
+ Experience and proficiency with Adobe, Microsoft Applications\.
+ Active DOE Q security clearance\.

Department Description:

The Center Safety & Security Coordinator is responsible and accountable for providing technical assistance to the Center 5200 workforce to ensure that Safety & Security requirements are being followed; communicating changes to requirements, lessons learned, and best practices to members of the workforce; acting as the Center representative in Safety & Security matters; serving as the POC for security related activities; and coordinating Safety & Security audits for the Center\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
