Job Description

:

We are seeking a Engineering Systems Integration/Implementation Professional

Perform entry\-level work within a technical science and engineering environment working in conjunction with Sandia staff on interdisciplinary projects that involve applying integrated technical judgment, utilizing the scientific method to recognize and formulate problems, to collect data through observation and experimentation, and to formulate and test hypotheses about the uses and deployment of advanced technologies in support of US nonproliferation and nuclear safeguards and security goals\.

On any given day, you will be tasked to:

+ Conduct analyses in support of national and regional security programs, conduct gap analysis to discover new project needs, develop and deliver training materials in support of funded projects, andconduct research and analysis on countries and strategic commodities of programmatic interest\.
+ Apply analysis of international affairs, principles of foreign relations, and scientific and engineering principles in analysis of advanced concepts and technologies for nonproliferation, nuclear security, and international sanctions regimes\.

The required experience for a successful candidate should include familiarity with sanctions enforcement and UN Security Council Resolutions, nuclear nonproliferation and WMD issues internationally, international export control regimes, trade practices, and financial transactions\. Additional desired experience includes working with international multilateral organizations including preparing papers, attending and presenting at conferences and meetings, participating in developing briefing materials, and briefing policy and technical materials to domestic and foreign participants\.

Candidates must possess strong teaming skills, a demonstrated aptitude for creative problem solving, a high level of cultural awareness, and some international travel experience\. To qualify for this posting, candidates must successfully complete an advanced degree by May 2018\.

Required:

+ Advanced degree in science, engineering, law, social sciences, or other relevant discipline
+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teams and as an individual
+ Ability to assist in writing funding proposals and engage with the team opportunities, needs, and gaps
+ Previous experience developing training materials
+ Ability to travel internationally in support of programs; Demonstrated versatility, political savvy, and high tolerance for ambiguity

Desired:

+ Previous experience with proliferation finance and/or sanctions evasion
+ Previous experience working in/with international multilateral organizations
+ Cultural awareness with foreign partners, particularly in training environments
+ Ability to develop and deliver training curriculum in international settings
+ Knowledge of project management
+ SharePoint literacy

Department Description:

The mission of Global Security Research and Analysis department is to develop creative science and technology solutions to address US national security concerns created by international and regional challenges\. The four primary mission areas are: to provide technical analysis support to US government policies and internal nuclear weapons complex programs, conduct risk\-informed analyses of international security issues and emerging, maintain international networks and competency on global issues \(e\.g\., via Track II engagements, collaborative research and international conferences\), and host international visiting scholars with whom we collaboratively explore technical and political issues affecting regional and global security\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.

This Limited Term Employee \(LTE\) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years\.
