Job Description

:

A proactive and team\-oriented Information Security Specialist is needed to provide Security Assurance support for Safeguards & Security \(S&S\)\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Develop and implement Security Assurance activities including program self\-assessments \(program assess program\), integrated assessments \(program assess line implementation\), external assessments, and follow\-through on corrective actions;
+ Identify and develop continuous program and process improvements;
+ Tracki, trend, compile, and analyzing data from security incidents and potential security incidents;
+ Identify and develop focus based on risk management principals;
+ Develop, review, and reporton performance metrics using web\-based tools such as SharePoint;
+ Engage a proactive approach in implementing and conducting assessment activities;
+ Utilize critical thinking skills throughout the assessment processes;
+ Interpret information, advising management, and recommending actions regarding issues;
+ Use project management and Lean Six Sigma principals and tools to analyze a variety of problems and to improve processes\.

Required:

+ Bbachelor's degree in Information Security/Assurance, Communications, Business, Criminology, Public Administration, or other relevant discipline plus entry level experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience\.

Desired:

+ Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, work independently on multiple concurrent activities to meet a variety of customer requirements with changing priorities and short deadlines\.
+ Demonstrated experience with quality and security assurance activities, including system and performance audits, recommending and implementing corrective actions, providing thorough and accurate documentation of technical and statistical reports, and ensuring quality assurance compliance\.
+ Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills to synthesize disparate detailed data into useful information, such as developing coherent documentation for reports and presentations\.
+ Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely both in writing and verbally\.
+ Strong customer focus and the ability to work well in teams\.
+ Experience reviewing, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting S&S data and the ability to recommend performance improvements\.
+ Demonstrated experience of the regulatory and contractual processes and the SNL tools available for the disposition of nonconformance and noncompliance\.
+ Demonstrated experience establishing and monitoring performance goals, targets, objectives, and milestones\.
+ Demonstrated experience planning and conducting assessments and causal analyses that lead to effective and efficient solutions\.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to compile security data and prepare briefings for all levels of management and staff\.
+ Experience with successful interactions with all levels of management, including Vice Presidents\.
+ Strong writing, communication, facilitation, critical thinking and organizational skills\.
+ Expertise in the development and implementation of operating policies, processes and procedures\.
+ Self\-motivated and demonstrated ability to initiate work, solve problems, and achieve results with minimal direction and supervision\.
+ Broad understanding of Sandia programs, policies, organizations, procedures, and administrative systems\.
+ Experience in project management; demonstrated ability to successfully manage and complete multiple programs and projects\.
+ Ability to work in a team\-focused environment, exercise discretion, and maintain confidentiality of information\.
+ Ability to conceptualize and communicate major elements of performance assurance to both technical and non\-technical personnel\.
+ Ability to develop, implement, verify and validate processes to meet requirements\.
+ Ability to exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for achieving results\.
+ Demonstrated experience in applying Quality Tools \(e\.g\., RCA, Statistics, Lean methodology, Six Sigma\)\.
+ Ability to work with sensitive or classified information\.
+ Familiarity with the following S&S disciplines: Technical Security Systems, Physical Security, Personnel Security, Assurance and Self\-Assessments, and Protective Force Operations\.
+ Active DOE/DOD security clearance\.

Department Description:

The Strategy & Program Operations Department is part of Sandia's Safeguard & Security \(S&S\) Center, whose primary function is the protection and support of Sandia's mission, information, resources, and people\. We strive to develop strategic partnerships and provide effective tools and resources to fully integrate security into every aspect of the work performed at Sandia\. The Strategy & Operations Department is responsible for leading efforts in the development, implementation, and successful execution of a diverse portfolio of S&S\-related initiatives involving strategy and operations\. The department is responsible for program operations such as strategic planning, risk management, requirements management, program communications, performance monitoring, assessments, corrective actions, and management review\. Additionally, the department is responsible for leading S&S quality initiatives and for applying quality standards across the S&S program to ensure effective, efficient, and quality processes are executed\. The department also provides support for special projects and executive\-level briefings\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
