Job Description

:

We are seeking a proactive and team\-oriented Environment, Safety, and Security Professional to provide performance reporting and management support for the Safety & Security \(S&S\) Program\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Plan, facilitate, and coordinate strategic planning activities for the S&S program, supporting management with strategic level program reviews, and maintaining the S&S strategic plan by tracking and reporting actions associated with milestones;
+ Lead projects with lab\-wide/mission critical impact and that further the sustainability of the laboratories and the S&S Program;
+ Develop and publish S&S reports, which are provided to all levels of Sandia leadership and external oversight;
+ Facilitate collaborative efforts among interdisciplinary subject matter experts across the S&S Programs, laboratories, external/internal collaborators and management;
+ Influence consensus and facilitates the resolution of conflicts as appropriate;
+ Review and report on performance metrics in web\-based tools such as SharePoint;
+ Interpret information, advising management, and recommending actions regarding issues;
+ Provide support for developing presentations for Senior Managers, Director, and Division 4000 Associates Lab Director;
+ Use project management and Lean Six Sigma tools to analyze a variety of problems and to improve processes;
+ Be accountable for handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality;
+ supporting management with special studies and projects; and
+ interfacing with a variety of customers and various levels of management\.

Required:

+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Information Security/Assurance, Criminology, Public Administration, or other relevant discipline plus entry level experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience\.

+ Experience with or substantial knowledge of strategic planning for organizations\.
+ Experience in project management; demonstrated ability to successfully manage and complete multiple programs and projects\.
+ Demonstrated ability to work in a team\-focused environment, exercise discretion, and maintain confidentiality of information\.
+ Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, work independently on multiple concurrent activities to meet a variety of customer requirements with changing priorities and short deadlines\.
+ Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills to synthesize disparate detailed data into useful information, such as developing coherent documentation for reports and presentations\.
+ Independently determining areas of focus based on risk management principals;
+ Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely both in writing and verbally\.
+ Strong customer focus and the ability to work well in teams\.
+ Experience with successful interactions with all levels of management, including executive leadership\.
+ Strong written and verbal communication, facilitation, critical thinking and organizational skills\.
+ Ability to develop PowerPoint presentations from diverse pieces of information;
+ Self\-motivated and demonstrated ability to initiate work, solve problems, and achieve results with minimal direction and supervision\.
+ Developing continuous program and process improvements\.
+ Broad understanding of Sandia programs, policies, organizations, procedures, and administrative systems\.
+ Ability to conceptualize and communicate major elements of performance assurance to both technical and non\-technical personnel\.
+ Ability to develop, implement, verify and validate processes to meet requirements\.
+ Ability to exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for achieving results \(e\.g\. Strategic planning, decision\-making models\)\.
+ Demonstrated experience in applying Quality Tools \(e\.g\., RCA, Statistics, Lean methodology, Six Sigma\)\.
+ Ability to work with sensitive or classified information\.
+ Familiarity with the following S&S disciplines: Technical Security Systems, Physical Security, Personnel Security, Assurance and Self\-Assessments, and Protective Force Operations\.

Department Description:

The Strategy & Program Operations Department is part of Sandia’s Safeguard & Security \(S&S\) Center, whose primary function is the protection and support of Sandia’s mission, information, resources, and people\. We strive to develop strategic partnerships and provide effective tools and resources to fully integrate security into every aspect of the work performed at Sandia\. The Strategy & Operations Department is responsible for leading efforts in the development, implementation, and successful execution of a diverse portfolio of S&S\-related initiatives involving strategy and operations\. The department is responsible for program operations such as strategic planning, risk management, requirements management, program communications, performance monitoring, assessments, corrective actions, and management review\. Additionally, the department is responsible for leading S&S quality initiatives and for applying quality standards across the S&S program to ensure effective, efficient, and quality processes are executed\. The department also provides support for special projects and executive\-level briefings\.

Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.

Sandia will conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications\. Further, employees in New Mexico must pass a U\.S\. Air Force background screen for access to the work site\.
