:

We are seeking a R&D S&E, Systems Engineer

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Have the responsibility to act as engineering lead in planning and supporting security studies and analysis for key U\.S\. stockpile systems
+ Conduct development, planning, implementation, and guiding of use control investigations that will aid understanding of stockpile security and drive future decisions on security realization work
+ Be responsible for managing cross\-cutting vulnerability analysis and penetration testing programs of current and future nuclear weapons in support of Nuclear Enterprise Assurance \(NEA\) and Use Control \(UC\) programs at Sandia
+ Understand aspects of vulnerability analysis and driving trust assurance activities throughout the nuclear weapons program

This position requires occasional travel to support program needs

Required:

+ Bachelor’s and advanced degree \(Master’s or PhD\) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering \(EE\), Electrical & Computer Engineering \(ECE\), Computer Science; or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering \(EE\), Electrical & Computer Engineering \(ECE\), Computer Science plus 4 years relevant experience in lieu of an advanced degree

+ Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills\.
+ Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a dynamic and ambiguous environment\.
+ Demonstrated ability to team well with internal and external partners and customers\.
+ Experience in system engineering of complex systems and ability to work with a diverse set of technologies\.
+ Degree with a cyber focus/minor\.
+ Vulnerability analysis or penetration testing or counter\-intelligence background\.
+ Experience with Labview, C/C\+\+, VHDL/Verilog, Java, and Python\.
+ Experience with NW component or system design, development, qualification, production, and/or surveillance\.
+ Familiarity with physical security\.
+ Familiarity with Use Control processes/systems\.
+ Demonstrated competency to discover, understand and articulate constraints & develop options and paths\-forward\.
+ Ability to work independently and in a team environment showing initiative\.
+ Active DOE Q, or DoD Top Secret clearance with ability to pass a polygraph for Sigma 14/15 access\.

Department Description:

The mission of the Surety/NEA System Studies Department is to maintain and improve, as appropriate, the Use Control capabilities of the U\.S\. Nuclear Stockpile and insure its trustworthiness by guiding site wide implementation of Nuclear Enterprise Assurance \(NEA\)\. These goals are accomplished through subsystem engineering and integration support to the nuclear weapon development community\. The Department also conducts system studies and analyses on issues related to nuclear weapon use control effectiveness NEA\. Additionally, it serves as the focal point for the protection of sensitive use control information at SNL/NM\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
