Job Description


We are in need of an information assurance specialist to perform and guide cyber security representative activities at the California site\. The team member will also support cyber program functions led out of 9300 such as audits, vulnerability assessments, communication and activities that involve the AISSM in CA\. The individual will be responsible for serving as the liaison between Cyber Security \(CS\) and the line organization\. Assists the line in clarifying CS policies and procedures\. Interfacing with center leaders to maintain the elements of the Cyber Security Accreditation Agreement \(CSAA\) for the center\. Maintain classified one page plans, contact users who are out of compliance with the CSAA, prepare and assist in cyber security assessments, attend CSO Senate meetings, threat briefings and CSR training\. Assist the line in finding technical solutions for cyber security issues\.

Primary Responsibilities and Abilities:

+ Implements the required physical, technical, and administrative controls to assure the security of information systems, as well as manage their risk\. Includes protection of the integrity, availability, authenticity, and confidentiality of data\.
+ Performs vulnerability analysis and assessments and mitigates system security threats and risks throughout the program life cycle to ensure a secure computing environment\.
+ Effectively implements accrediting agency cyber security requirements and orders, including understanding best practices and National Institute of Standards and Technology \(NIST\) principles\.
+ Ensures compliance with all Information Assurance controls, performs risk analysis, and assists to mitigate cyber and Information Technology \(IT\) risks\.
+ Supports the selection of integrated hardware and software solutions that meet performance, scalability, reliability, and security needs\.
+ Leads information assurance related projects and process improvements which includes engaging with members of management and coordinating project activities\.
+ Serves as a subject matter expert and represent the cyber security representatives service to the site reporting service delivery capabilities and results to management while also completing CSR tasks and supporting/guiding CSR team members with the work they are performing\.
+ Informs and supports IT professionals about current cyber policy and DOE orders to help ensure their success in implementing technical solutions to mission partners\.


+ Requires bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business or relevant discipline plus entry level experience \(up to two years\); or master's degree in relevant discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience\.
+ At least two years supporting cyber programs in a technical capacity \(e\.g\. information system audits, cyber security representatives, cyber incident response, information assurance activities, etc\.\)\.
+ At least two years information systems experience as a desktop support technician and/or system administrator for Windows environments \(e\.g\. system setup, account management, backup/restore, network printers, application installation and peripheral installations, etc\.\)\.
+ Applicant must have DOE Q clearance or active DOD TS clearance to perform the work required on classified systems\.


+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information security or computer science
+ 2\+ years of computer support at SNL
+ Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to work with upper management\.
+ Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with limited supervision\.
+ Understanding of network technologies and concepts including the ability to troubleshoot and make fiber network connections\.
+ Experience with information systems audit processes
+ Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with other IT professionals outside of the work center\.
+ Demonstrated excellence in written communications\.
+ Information security certifications \(e\.g\. Information Systems Security Manager, etc\.\)
+ Experience with SCN computers running in a MSVDI \(Microsoft Virtual Desktop Infrastructure\)
+ Experience with SNL escorting requirements and ability to manage work while escorting\.
+ SNL site IT infrastructure experience to include SRN/SCN/SPN networking environments\.
+ Experience managing Windows collaborative share permissions\.

Department Description:

The Information Systems & Services Department provides enterprise level computing capabilities for Sandia/California\. Services provided by the department include \(1\) unclassified and classified desktop including Windows, Mac, Unix, and Linux; \(2\) mobile computing; \(3\) laptops of foreign travel; \(4\) password administration; and \(5\) IT support tailored to mission line organization specific needs including Engineering Applications Management, Cyber Security Representatives, and Applied Mechanics LAN\.
