We are seeking a TRUCK DRIVER \(HEAVY\)

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Sandia’s Reapplication Team \(a part of Sandia’s Property Management & Reapplication Department\) is responsible for the receipt, management, reuse, and disposition of excess government personal property across the Laboratories valued at over $1\.5 Billion\.
+ Reapplication picks up, transports, receives, evaluates, sorts, screens, and dispositions all excess property to maximize internal reuse and provide effective cost savings and return on investment for the Laboratories\.
+ This position is a part of a high\-performing team of drivers who perform over 9,000 individual pickups and deliveries ranging from individual personal computers to large shipments requiring the use of a tractor and flatbed trailer\.
+ This position is an important part of the PropertyManagement and Reapplication team and is responsible for the accurate accounting of all property being received\.
+ Additionally, Reapplication Drivers evaluate materials for hazards \(i\.e\. fluids, hazardous materials, etc\.\) and security concerns prior to delivering them to the Reapplication facility, ensuring the safety of Reapplication staff and preventing security incidents\. This is a challenging, fast\-paced, and rewarding position with impacts across the Laboratories and future growth potential\.
+ As a condition of employment, Metal Trades positions are represented by the Metal Trades Council \(MTC\) and represented employees must pay the monthly membership dues or agency fee

Desired:

+ Experience operating large capacity delivery vehicles other than commercial vehicles \(i\.e\. large stake\-bed trucks, delivery vans, etc\.\) to pick up and deliver materials
+ Experience loading, transporting, and unloading sensitive, delicate, and large/unusually shaped equipment
+ Experience using a handheld bar code scanner to account for materials and reconciling differences/locating missing items
+ Experience with electronic work order management systems
+ Strong customer service skills
+ Demonstrated history of high performance and strong commitment to teamwork and working in a team\-oriented environment
+ Ability to work alone and to prioritize work based on changing conditions
+ Prior experience working in a sensitive/high security environment
+ Prior US government\-issued security clearance

Department Description:

Logistics Operations, 10260, supports Sandia and its customers with transportation and asset management\. Logistics core processes are Receive, Move, Manage and Dispose\. The Property Management & Reapplication Department, 10264, provides mission\-enabling services that promote effective supply chain management through systems that account for property control, utilization, and disposition\. Activities include conducting physical inventories of sensitive items, equipment, and precious metals; assisting with government\-furnished property under contract; obtaining return on investment for excess property through reapplication and trade\-ins; generating cost avoidance through acquisition transfers from other federal agencies; destruction services; and conducting high risk/export control reviews to ensure the nuclear non\-proliferation goals of the nation are met\. Reapplication, 10264\-1, is responsible for movement, identification and tagging, control and utilization, reapplication and disposal of property\. This includes movement of materials and equipment to sites at SNL and other locations\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.

Required:

+ High School diploma and at least 3 years’ experience working in a materials management/logistics/warehouse activity
+ Current Class A CDL with at least 3 years recent experience picking up and delivering materials
+ Recent forklift training and certification with demonstrated experience loading and unloading materials onto trucks and trailers
+ Experience with cargo handling equipment \(pallet jacks, carts, hand trucks, etc\.\) to move materials from pickup/staging areas to vehicles
+ Experience with tie\-down/material handling equipment \(tie downs, cargo straps, boomers, chains, etc\.\) to secure heavy and/or unusually shaped/sized loads
+ Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of programs
+ Required Skills\. Physical Assessments, & Certifications:

- Once the applicant has submitted their application and resume, there will be several levels of screening as applicable: \(1\) resume review for direct experience and related\-work history; \(2\) skills assessments \(3\) interview evaluations; \(4\) pre\-employment background reviews \(for external applicants\); \(5\) drug testing; and \(6\) physical job placement assessments\. Each screening level must be passed successfully and consecutively in order to be eligible for consideration\.A job placement assessment \(JPA\) will be required as part of the screening for this position\. This JPA will evaluate your ability to meet the physical requirements of this job\.
