Job Description

:

We are seeking a Technical Business Development Specialist position for Firing and Embedded Systems Team\. The position will be managed out of 2624 but will interact with all departments in 2620 to improve current technical business processes and relationships with key stakeholders and customers \(e\.g\., NW Systems organizations, Kansas City National Security Campus, SPP customers\)\. The successful candidate will identify and develop strategic opportunities for business execution improvements and growth for Firing and Embedded Systems alongside Product Realization Team Leads, Principle Investigators, management, and both internal and external partners\. Current needs include Nuclear Weapons Surveillance activities and alignment of strategic technical growth with needs identified by the NW community \(e\.g\., Nuclear Posture Review, Advanced & Exploratory Roadmaps\)\. The successful candidate will work closely with management to monitor alignment of the technical business portfolio with future customer needs\. As such, the candidate must familiar with current and future customer needs, business processes for Center 2600 and Group 2620, the organizational structure, and communication requirements\. This position will require an individual who is willing to reach across internal and external organizational boundaries to develop relationships and an understanding of business needs and capabilities\.

The chosen candidate may be required to advise and influence PRT Leads, PIs, and management through business development and growth to address strategic opportunities and gaps\. As part of this activity, the chosen candidate will be required to research business and program management practices and objectives with internal and external partners and develop proposals to Sandia management\. Responsibilities may also include oversight of existing business processes to monitor, adjust and optimize them to ensure continued alignment of program needs and execution

Some travel required\.

Required:

+ Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline plus related entry\-level experience; or, master's degree in a relevant discipline\.
+ Experience in executive communications and executive relations\.
+ Experience with either Nuclear Weapons development or production or with Strategic Partnership Programs\.
+ Current and active DOE Q\-level security clearance\.

Desired:

+ Understanding of nuclear weapons firing system development and or production\.
+ Experience and existing relationships with Kansas City National Security Campus\.
+ Demonstrated technical writing expertise\.
+ Evidence of portfolio management, customer relationship building, business development, and experience expanding a customer base\.
+ Experience working with Product Realization Teams\.
+ Ability and willingness to obtain Sigma 15\.

Department Description:

The Advanced Firing Systems Department, 2624, has responsibilities for firing subsystems and terminal protection devices used on U\.S\. Navy and Air Force nuclear weapon systems\. These products must be highly reliable through a suite of environments, including extreme environments, and have critical performance characteristics in high consequence applications\. The department has life\-cycle product responsibility from design and development to qualification and production through monitoring, assessment and disposition\.
