Job Description

:

We are seeking an Intern Year Round \- Technical Undergrad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Support Department of Defense \(DOD\) and National Nuclear Security Administration \(NNSA\) projects
+ Assist with project design, testing and overall project support
+ Assist in testing sensors and cameras to evaluate performance
+ Write reports on test results or designs
+ Work with project leads to archive and organize project documents
+ Work with project leads to organize lab and setup for future testing or builds
+ Work with manager to build database of previous project data sets

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ Pursuing an undergrad education in an engineering field
+ Ability to work year\-round at Sandia National Laboratories Albuquerque location

Desired:

+ Proven record of scholastic achievement
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office

Department Description:

The Security System Analysis & Engineering Department, \(6513\) is a component of Sandia's Weapons & Force Protection Center\. Department 6513 is responsible for the analysis, design, and implementation of complex physical security systems to protect critical DoD and DOE assets and defense capabilities\. The department provides project management and subject matter experts in the area of risk analysis, intrusion detection, video assessment, communications, entry control and Alarm Communication and Display, and response force planning\. These subject matter experts are developed internally with extensive hands on training and external educational opportunities\. Department employees have the ability to lead and/or participate as a subject matter expert in vulnerability/risk analysis studies, engineering studies, system design, Sensor and access control component testing, development, and integration of complex physical security systems \(PSS\) for DoD, DOE and other government agencies\. Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, and Civil Engineers primarily fill these roles\. This department is currently working with the DOE, US Navy, US Air Force, and US Army to enhance the effectiveness of critical asset protection at CONUS/OCONUS installations through several multi\-million\-dollar initiatives\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
