Individuals in postdoctoral positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance\.

:

We are seeking an R&D postdoc to join our multi\-disciplinary team of mathematicians, engineers and computer scientists developing algorithms and software in combinatorial scientific computing to meet the challenges posed by next\-generation high\-performance computing hardware\. Increasingly heterogeneous architectures, reduced on\-node memory bandwidth, and ever\-growing demands for extreme levels of concurrency are driving the need for novel portable and highly scalable algorithms\. This position offers the opportunity for highly motivated and enthusiastic researchers to work in a collaborative environment to meet national computing needs in energy, climate, and national security\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Conduct innovative research and software development in high\-performance graph and hypergraph algorithms for physics\-based and data\-centric applications
+ Execute and optimize your software on state\-of\-the\-art testbed computers and supercomputers at Sandia and other DOE facilities
+ Collaborate with engineers, mathematicians and scientists across many disciplines
+ Publish in journals and conferences, and present at national and international venues
+ Develop, improve, and support Trilinos, a major Sandia software base for research, development and deployment of new algorithms

Required:

+ PhD, conferred within 5 years prior to employment, in computer science, mathematics, or related engineering or science discipline
+ Experience with graph/hypergraph algorithms, sparse linear algebra kernels and/or other combinatorial algorithms
+ Experience in large\-scale parallel programming
+ Experience with object\-oriented programming in C\+\+
+ Technical publications in HPC conferences and journals, and/or released software used by applications

Desired:

+ Experience in graph partitioning or load balancing
+ Experience in task mapping for parallel computing
+ Experience in performance\-portable parallel programming \(e\.g\. Kokkos\)
+ Experience in architecture\-aware algorithm development and implementation for GPU and Xeon Phi architectures
+ Experience developing or working with Trilinos
+ Experience developing and deploying robust parallel software
+ Experience working in collaborative software teams
