What your job will be like:

We are seeking an R&D Laboratory Support Technologist to perform a wide range of support activities that keep the departments’ laboratories safe, secure, and functioning at a high level\. A technologist in this position would work closely with another R&D Laboratory Support Technologist as a team of two, to support the many projects and staff members that use the laboratory space on an everyday basis\. This technologist will work closely with management to set priorities, and will gain experience interfacing with several organizations across Sandia including facilities and procurement, to ensure that tasks are carried out in a timely manner to support the telemetry mission\.

One any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Ensure smooth operation of laboratory functions and procure necessary materials and supplies
+ Oversee laboratory equipment repair and calibration
+ Evaluate and inspect electrical testing equipment
+ Maintain supplies and service contracts for critical lab equipment such as 3D printers
+ Workforce safety training
+ Set\-up and maintain ESD workspaces
+ Create and Maintain safety and ES&H documentation
+ Clean and Organize the laboratory space
+ Escort uncleared contractors and/or facility team members through the laboratory space
+ Be responsible for chemicals and hazardous waste stored or generated in the laboratory space
+ Dispose of OUO material and electronic waste
+ Send equipment to reapplication
+ Control access to laboratory spaces
+ Participate as part of the Building Emergency Team
+ Help with test set\-up and safety walk\-throughs
+ Work with Sandia facilities to oversee changes to the lab space


+ Requires high school diploma plus three or more years of relevant experience\.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance\.
+ Ability to travel for work related tasks\.
+ Experience working in a R&D laboratory environment\.
+ Active DOE L level security clearance or active clearance with another US government agency, e\.g\., DOD, to be considered for this position\.


+ National Recognized Testing Lab \(NRTL\) Inspector certification\.
+ Additional technical training and certifications\.
+ Experience with Sandia processes in relation to procurement, contract management, facility management, safety, and security\.
+ Demonstrated organizational and time management skills to simultaneously manage a wide variety of tasks\.
+ Active DOE Q level security clearance\.

Department Description:

The mission of the Telemetry Systems Engineering Department is to design, build, test and implement weapon systems instrumentation for use in weapon development and stockpile evaluation programs\. More specifically, we are responsible for developing flight data instrumentation systems to support DOD and DOE Joint Test Assembly flight tests\. These tests are used to confirm the performance of nuclear weapon systems such as re\-entry vehicles, cruise missiles, and bombs, and such testing is critical to Sandia's stockpile stewardship mission\. We also provide non\-weapon telemeter monitoring systems that can be used in challenging remote environments\. Telemetry Systems Engineering employs electronic design engineers, mechanical design engineers and electronic technologists, as well as telemetry system engineers on our on\-going and advanced telemetry projects\.
