We are seeking an Intern Year Round \- Technical Undergrad

Organization 2548 is seeking a self motivated year round intern\. On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Review Technical drawings with team leads to prepare the build of materials
+ Assist staff technologists and engineers specializing prototyping tooling for manufacturing of thermal batteries
+ Work with Sandia Contracting representatives to procure the materials or parts for the assembly of thermal and lithium battery assemblies
+ Work with the suppliers to ensure the technical design product specifications are well understood and the parts are meeting requirements
+ Working with the primary standards lab to ensure the calibration of critical calibrated equipment is maintained
+ Participate in team environments via structured development lifecycles
+ Support the technical team to measure and inspect incoming parts meet design requirements
+ Help order, track, and stock tools, parts, materials and finished products
+ Work within inventory systems that will be used to monitor buffer and schedule of parts for battery assembly

Required:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional Requirement:

+ Enrolled in a technical relevant degree program with the ability to work an average of 20 hours per week

+ Able to communicate to technical staff on project status
+ Familiar with inventory or supply chain management systems

Department Description:

The Power Source Components Department has two major tasks\. The first is the production of batteries for the Concurrent Design and Manufacturing program for which our engineers oversee the production of thermal, silver zinc, and other batteries at selected vendors in the U\.S\. These batteries must meet stringent quality control requirements as well as rigorous test requirements in order to be shipped for use on DP programs\. Our second task includes the design, development, assembly and maintenance of various testers for the Power Source Technology Group's components and other products\. We carry out tests not only for our DP customer but also for WFO and other customers as well\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
