Job Description


We are seeking an Intern Year Round \- Technical Undergrad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Assist in developing new software capabilities, under the guidance of Sandia staff, that support the mission and customer set of the Interactive System, Simulation, and Analysis \(ISSA\) organization
+ Assist in testing and performing quality assurance for simulation and game\-based training products developed by ISSA
+ Assist in creating visual assets \(e\.g\., 3D models, animations, terrain generation\) for simulation products created by ISSA


You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ Current enrollment in a degree program with significant digital media and simulations work
+ Formal training or demonstrated experience in 3D modeling, animation, and game development
+ Formal training or demonstrated experience in software applications development in C\+\+, C\#, or Java
+ Formal training or demonstrated experience in time stepped or discrete event simulations development


+ Good oral, written and presentation skills
+ A high degree of self\-motivation and ability to work effectively in a team environment
+ Development of serious games with Unity or similar game environment
+ Skills and experience in statistical data analysis techniques

Department Description:

The Interactive Systems Simulation & Analysis \(ISSA\) Department develops flexible and powerful tools for analyzing security in operational spaces, particularly high consequence facilities and their surrounding terrain\. ISSA develops physics\-based, 3D, terrain aware simulations that analyze a system's performance including the interplay between its components including sensing, energy, cyber, and personnel\. Simulations may incorporate a mixture of live and simulated assets\. Work in a variety of domains such as computer science research, terrain scanning/modeling, 3D modeling, and serious game development contribute to these tools\. Example systems include: threat neutralization at NNSA and DoD sites, IED defeat, sensor employment, robotics, and immersive 3D simulations\. See http://umbra\.sandia\.gov/ for more information\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
