Job Description


We are seeking a Licensing Executive Professional to support licensing of Intellectual Property\. This position is responsible for ensuring return on investment for Sandia's intellectual property portfolio through licensing and commercialization of Sandia technologies\.

Key functions of this role include, but are not limited to:

+ Negotiating licensing agreements and anticipate, understand, and react to potential and current sponsor or customer needs
+ Identifying, developing, and implementing near\-term and long\-term strategies relating to the development of technologies, services, follow\-on programs, or industries
+ Work with Sandia legal to create, manage and execute IP protection plans
+ Achieving commercialization revenue targets
+ Providing technical and scientific advice to customers, sponsors, and staff/management responding to technology commercialization related questions, issues, and problems
+ Managing on\-going customer and sponsor relationships for Sandia for mission benefit
+ Identifying, arranging, and managing sales calls
+ Operating in a complex technical and business environment that requires comprehension and identification of technical and mission objectives, as well as an understanding of complex markets and the federal funding landscape


+ Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering related field
+ Master’s degree in a Science, Engineering, or Legal field
+ Experience identifying partners, and negotiating and executing license agreements for advanced technologies \(patents and software\) in technical or governmental areas
+ Understanding of IP protection processes include US patent and copyright law
+ Experience working with inventors, legal and companies to execute licensing agreements
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoE Q clearance


+ PhD in Science or Engineering field
+ Track record of delivering commercialization results in a licensing position \(e\.g\. achieves commercialization revenue targets\)\.
+ Knowledge of and experience with state\-of\-the\-art licensing advanced technologies and management of technology processes

Department Description:

The Intellectual Property \(IP\) Management, Licensing and Business & Competitive Intelligence \(BCI\) Department \(1182\) is responsible for managing Sandia’s IP portfolio and for negotiating and consummating license agreements\. The department enables beneficial partnerships to deploy Sandia's technologies to industry, universities, other labs, and state and federal agencies\. The department also provides business and competitive intelligence to support leadership strategies and program development activities\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
