Job Description

:

The Science and Engineering Information Systems \(SEIS\) Group is looking for an energetic, imaginative manager to discover state\-of\-the\-art solutions that meet changing mission and program needs\.

If you are selected, you will fill these roles: inspire a dynamic, high\-performing department to develop and deploy cutting\-edge automated testing tools and techniques that improve efficiency of SEIS development and O&M teams; drive software solution development and maintenance for NSE Nuclear Weapons mission computing needs, which include components of the PRIDE software portfolio\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Lead R&D of new software solutions and enhancements of existing solutions in support of Nuclear Weapons mission computing needs within the PRIDE program\.
+ Support and maintain software testing and automated software testing capabilities for the 9350\-business group\.
+ Direct O&M of existing NSE NW and PRIDE applications\.

The selected manager:

+ Establishes an automated software testing capability for the 9350\-business group\.
+ Takes responsibility for R&D and maintenance of software solutions and production operations to ensure deployed systems meet defined function, data, and security needs\.
+ Partners with key mission and business area representatives to establish the strategic vision and direction of the department, and teams with other managers and business areas to develop fully integrated and extensible solutions to solve complex business problems\.
+ Collaborates with peer managers to contribute to 9300\-wide and Lab\-wide strategic initiatives, creates a culture of innovation by driving and improving systems and process within the group, and develops new capabilities and information systems that provide strategic advantage for Sandia\.
+ Develops and executes staffing, development, and retention plans that attract, reward and retain a highly competent workforce\.
+ Travels occasionally based on program needs\.

Required:

+ Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field plus eight years of relevant experience
+ Experience in software architecture, design and software systems development\.
+ A minimum of five years of experience in technical project leadership, technical project management and execution, and delivery of large, complex systems while meeting project cost, schedule, and performance\.
+ Relevant experience in software\-systems research, development and engineering

Desired:

+ Two years of leadership experience
+ At least 5 years combined experience as an individual contributor and/or manager in software development\.
+ Experience in implementing and/or supporting automated software\-testing capabilities
+ Experience in Nuclear Weapons product development processes & procedures\.
+ Demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills, including an ability to succinctly explain complex technical concepts\.
+ Demonstrated technical business development experience with proven results in building trusted partnerships, both internal and external to Sandia\.
+ Ability to lead high performing teams of staff and/or managers across multiple organizations, creating a positive work environment leading to successful results\.
+ Experience with or a working understanding of quality processes, methodologies and approaches to deliver products and services, such as: CMMI, ISO, ITIL and Agile \(SCRUM\)\.
+ Strong teaming and interpersonal skills with demonstrated success working on multi\-disciplinary teams\.

Department Description:

The Design & Development Solutions Department is responsible for software applications that support Product Lifecycle Management \(PLM\)\. This includes providing solutions to define all aspects of a product's Bill of Materials \(BOM\) and providing a Product Data Management \(PDM\) system that enables distributed product development and configuration management of CAD models, drawings, and specifications\. 9358 software applications are used at Sandia and throughout the NSE Complex to support direct mission work\. The organization has expertise in all areas of the software development lifecycle \(SDLC\) including requirements analysis, data modeling, IT system engineering, application development, and technical project management\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
