Job Description

:

We are seeking a versatile, self\-motivated, team\-oriented R&D, Certified Electronic Technologist to join our team\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Assemble and Inspect electronic or electromechanical hardware, in support of various SAR, NW, and MD programs\.
+ Inventory and track parts in our on\-line tracking system\.
+ Identify and procure parts and assemblies from vendors\.
+ Perform receiving inspection\.
+ Maintain assembly documentation and recommend improvements to documentation, designs, and processes\.
+ Coordinate with shipping and receiving to deliver completed items and to receive procured items\.
+ Setup and perform automated tests\.

Required:

+ Must have, or had in the past, at least one of the following certifications; J\-SDT\-001, IPC\-7711/7721, IPC\-620, and IPC\-610;
+ At least 1 year of experience performing SMT soldering and electronics assembly processes;
+ High school diploma or equivalent\.

Desired:

+ Associates degree in electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience;
+ 5\-7 years’ experience in electronic fabrication;
+ Current J\-SDT\-001, IPC\-7711/7721, IPC\-620, and IPC\-610 certification\(s\);
+ Experience reading and understanding electronic schematics, data sheets and using basic electronic test equipment;
+ Experience with configuration management tools;
+ Experience with Microsoft office suite of products;
+ Demonstrated success in working effectively both independently and in a team environment;
+ Entrepreneurial can\-do spirit and the desire to exceed customer expectations;
+ Knowledgeable about safe chemical handling in a laboratory environment;
+ Knowledgeable about various electronic components and cable connectors;
+ Active or the ability to obtain a DOE “L” or Q\-Level security clearance\.

Department Description:

The Structures & Mechanisms Department, 5324, provides mechanical, electromechanical, and electrical expertise to customers across Sandia Laboratories\. We design, analyze, assemble, and test prototype hardware and mature designs\. We support hardware assembly, test setup, and test execution to support the fielding of our customers hardware\. We have expertise in building prototype hardware while generating the appropriate documentation to enable “build\-to\-print” options for large production runs\. In addition, the department supports small\-scale production runs internally and work with external vendors to support larger production efforts\. We support and work with each other and our customers to ensure that the product that reaches our customers is correct and meets their expectations\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
