Job Description


We are seeking a Lab Support Technologist to support pulsed power infrastructure operations on the Z machine\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Support experiments on the Z machine
+ Develop utility systems and generate approved assembly procedures
+ Assist with support systems analysis and documentation
+ Support a wide range of mechanical, pressure, rigging/hoisting, and oil/water systems at Z
+ Calibrate analog and digital measuring tools and fixtures


+ High school diploma or equivalent plus three years of related experience
+ Experience building & maintaining mechanical systems, which may include the automotive or marine industry
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoE L clearance


+ Bachelor’s degree
+ Welding certification
+ Experience with various types of mechanical equipment and tools such as hand tools and metal working machinery
+ Experience with pressure systems
+ Experience working both as a team member and independently
+ Excellent verbal, written, planning, and interpersonal skills

Department Description:

The Pulsed Power Engineering Department \(01693\) provides fundamental, advanced, and cutting edge engineering to support the advanced science research and development programs in the Pulsed Power Sciences Center at Sandia National Laboratories\. The departments engineers, designers and technologists work together with the center’s scientists to deliver engineered solutions in the complex development needs of next generation advanced pulsed power accelerators, sustainment and enhancement of current machines, execution of experiments on these facilities, and maintenance of the oil/water/gas infrastructures\.
